The same lotteries that won them Wemby and Castle left us with Miller and Salaün.

That is not smart drafting. Spurs are running on pure luck right now.

Never really disliked the Spurs but I really hate the idea Spurs are some "genius" franchise just cause they lucked into 3 generational bigs in their franchise history.

If we don't win the lottery i hope the spurs do because they are my favorite team not named the hornets. Fell in love with the game in the Robinson Hakeem era, and they have had consistent success with the exception of a few seasons. Always fun to watch and great players to watch throughout the past 3 decades.

I am looking at the stats of Kasparas Jakucionis which seem pretty good for a freshman.

50% from the floor, 41% from 3, 58% from 2, 87% from ft line

16 pts, 5.6 reb, 5.4 assists, 3.6 turnovers

Having a guy that could play between LaMelo and Brandon and then take over the pg spot when LaMelo needs a rest would solve a lot of problems for us.

Spurs deserve to move down for the next 20 lotteries in which they participate.

While not getting one or two pick would be deflating, I get the feeling that anywhere within the top 6 would allow us to pick up a prospect that could atleast be something to be excited about.

Guys like Edgecomb, Jaku, and Johnson have potential to be really quality players and can fill some gaps our current roster has.

Doesn't feel like 2023 or 2024 where you feel totally screwed if your team falls out of top 4.

Ending up with either of those 3 is definitely a huge plus for this roster. Especially compared to last year's draft. The argument could be made that the top 7 guys in this draft would all have gone number 1 last year. That's just how bad that draft was.

I'm adding Asa Newell to the group of prospects whose stats I'm tracking. On paper he seems like someone I would like more for the Hornets than some of the prospects that are being mocked higher right now (I don't like some of the guard prospects). He was #8 on the mock draft they did on Sam Vecenie's podcast a few days ago.

Egor Demin
Boogie Fland
Labaron Philon

Early favorites based on name alone

Seeing how invested some folks are getting in Flagg vs Bailey vs whomever is telling me it's going to be a highly contentious and emotional draft process. Not excited for that.

This. I've decided we're going to pick top 4 and I'm going to be happy with whoever we pick. So long as that pick is Baron Igor Boogie.

Rutgers plays on FS1 in a few more minutes.

That team is trash tho. I have no idea why Harper and Bailey chose Rutgers of all places. They likely will miss the the tournament.

Wait a minute….are you forgetting this is the Hornets? Do not discount their potential to screw up even in this draft.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I did hear there's a 17 year old Belgian with an unpronounceable name and elite intangibles, so who knows. ;)

They chose money. Their isolation ball is also a reason. Not like they have anyone to pass to though.

Watched the Rutgers ucla game. Gah dang ucla is struggling. Bailey looked pretty solid. Harper struggled but the potential is obvious. Was actually a good win for Rutgers. They needed it

That Stojakovic kid that UNCNYC likes seems like he could actually be a good second rounder. 6'7" sophomore wing scorer averaging 20 ppg on 59% true shooting in the ACC and has an NBA dad. Not bad. They'll have two picks in the 30s in this draft, so the 2nd round will be pretty important if they keep at least one of those picks.

On Sam Vecenie's podcast they were saying they thought this class was a little weak in the lottery after Flagg/Harper, but strong in the late 1st and early 2nd. They both had Kasparas as the clear #3 right now and had Charlotte taking Ace Bailey at #4 in their mock draft, although they both said they had Edgecombe as the best fit and next highest ranked players on their board.

Bailey scares me more than any of the top prospects tbh. He seems like he has most of the biggest statistical red flags you don't want to see from a prospect like that. Low bpm, low net rating, super low assists + bad assist/to ratio, 56% ft with low ft attempt rate, low true shooting %, and his 3pt shooting, which is supposed to be one of his main selling points, has been mid so far. Hes really young though (18.8 on draft day) and is 6'10" with really good athleticism, high defensive potential and possibly good 3pt shooting. Maybe the team context is dragging him down like we saw with GG Jackson in his NCAA year.

Bailey starting to creep back into that 3rd spot for me. He's raw, but the potential is there.

I expect Flagg to sit some or most of the second half. This game is beyond over.

Jaku basketball IQ is something we could use.

Bailey has more potential, but Jaku just fits as that secondary playmaker. Tough decision the idea of Miller/Bailey on the wing is also intriguing.

I'm seeing people comparing Bailey to Miller.

Bailey another good game. He seems to be coming around. My only issue is his ball handling.

His pro comp to me is Rashard Lewis right now.

Return to Charlotte Hornets
