Haywoods contract is valuable. I forget how it is. *paging blackoutbobcat*.

Something about only 2 million is guaranteed or something.

I know it is. He can be traded as a 10 million non-guaranteed contract, similar to Dampier who was used to get Chandler from us.

But we're sending equal money to OKC but for a longer period. So they're paying more money overall and sending us an upgrade in the draft, so I would think they need that kind of incentive to help us move up.

I'm sure Cho would be tempted to flip 21 for Afflalo but I say go for Lance and pocket 21. Plenty of interesting names could be available there.

Yeah, he's only guaranteed one more year at about $2 million, then there's a final year at like $10 million (forget the exact number). That amount is unguaranteed if he's waived before next August, so we could move him draft night '15 and the receiving team could waive him for free.

As for this offer, I'm not sure is worth it to only move up 3 spots.

This is a huge NO from me. We trade a starter of a position of need and a potentially valuable trade chip for a washed up scrub that plays our deepest position, to move up three spots to where historically the pick almost always busts.

Moving up 3 mere spots to take on a contract that makes Hendersons look like a Swedish massage.

I'm moving up 3 spots and losing Hendo in exchange for 1 year of Perk's contract. Maybe I'm wrong. I just don't want Hendo on our team to be honest. So that would be a win for me, unless we find another way to shed Hendo for more. But I can't imagine his value is too high around the league.

Perkins would backup Jefferson and leave immediately. I would rather Biyombo get those minutes and develop a little bit. I still have faith in the young blood, especially for just 3 measly spots in the late first round.

Edit: Henderson is a better player, much better player than Perkins is anyway

Everyone would be hard pressed to figure out a way to use Henderson to move up 3 spots in this draft. OKC needs NBA-tested players in their system and they have an expiring bad contract. Neither Haywood nor Henderson are expiring. Also - there could be a huge difference in fit at pick 21 vs. 24.

Players who could be at 21 who likely won't be at 24:

Tyler Ennis
Elfrid Payton
Shabazz Napier
Kyle Anderson
PJ Hairston
Rodney Hood
TJ Warren
Portzingis

I only take on that bad contract if OKC is willing to give up an asset.

Oh I know he's the better player. It's more for the contract and me not wanting Hendo on the team. My liking that deal has absolutely nothing to do with my opinion on Perkins as a player.

Yeah but probably 5 of those dudes will be available and we have so many holes that we can just stay pat and take the best guy that falls to us anyway. None of those are starter worthy unless Ennis is a PG savant, Hairston is better than Tom Sorenson's been hyping him (he's not), or Anderson (defense), Hood (defense, handles), Warren (defense, range), Porzingis (bulk) all improve major weaknesses.

Those could be picks 15-22. We might not have the opportunity to draft any of them. We might be looking at DeAndre Daniels, Glenn Robinson III etc.

If we cover SG at 9 (with Stauskas) we will be able to leverage Henderson or Neal to move up from 24 later in the draft as teams see their targets fall off the board.

I will be really excited if we know at 9 that Henderson is expendable.

I'd rather have Daniels, GRIII or Early over some of those guys. The talent disparity is not that wide. The only guy I'd be keen to trade up and snatch is Payne.

Haywood is also basically an expiring, as there's no way we keep him beyond this season and will cut him next August if we can't trade him. It's basically giving up Hendo to move up three spots. I know a lot of us want to move on from Hendo - myself included - but he's worth more than that IMO.

Haywood is irrelevant.

Hendo may be worth more than that, but realistically who is trading for him?
