Also its crazy that really only BJ Boston hurt his stock from beginning of college to now, if you look at my OP.

Re: 2021 NBA Draft Thread
I'm not very interested in Kuminga.
He shot 38% in the G-League. 25% from 3. 62% FT.
That is really poor for a wing. He is a big project on offense.

If he can top Tae's efforts last year, Miles will ascend to super star status.
The fact that we moved up last year make moving up this year nearly impossible. Miles is headed for that status either way.

Mobley shoots well and I think he has potential to be much better than Ayton so I think he's better than Green
If we draft 1, we take Cade. 2, and draft Mobley. 3, take Green. After that, its anyone's game IMO
I really want Scottie Barnes, I think he is a great compliment to LaMelo and Hayward. It will be our luck that Kuiminga is the one that falls to 11 and we have the tough choice to make
Not that you are saying anything too crazy here, but Jalen Green's long term upside is higher than Mobley in my mind. Green is 6-5 and would literally be the perfect running mate next to LaMelo at the 2 guard spot with his athleticism running the wing. He will probably be a 25 ppg scorer in the league by his third year.
Love Mobley too, but I think that is thinking too short term to take him over Green who in my mind by draft time will be challenging Cade for the number 1 pick.

Re: 2021 NBA Draft Thread
Been watching a ton of Cunningham tape tonight. The player he reminds me of the most is actually Paul Pierce.
He isn't super athletic, but he can handle and create space off the dribble. When going to the rim he uses his physicality more so than speed or crafty finishes to score inside. He settles for jumpers quite a bit though for being a 6-8 ballhandler in college which does give me some worry. Don't get me wrong he isn't an awful athlete, but I don't think I've seen a dunk in the half court set in his entire highlights against smaller less athletic college players. Really fundamentally sound, so I think he will figure out the pro game and seems to have a super high IQ. Do not think he will ever be a point guard in the NBA, I would cast him as a playmaking SF like a Tatum, Butler or a PG13 in terms of passing not a Doncic or Harden level offensive cog.
Whereas Jalen Green is dunking every .2 seconds in his highlight real and when he drives he zips by defenders instead of just beating them by .5 a step. Green is getting extremely close to passing him in my book and I think it really depends on team need at this point. For the Hornets I think I would actually be fine taking Green over him or acting like I was going to take Cade and getting an asset from the team with second pick.

Re: 2021 NBA Draft Thread
Also if given the choice I would probably take Jaren Jackson Jr over Mobley right now. Think overall this class is being a bit overrated, I think the top 4 are all pretty safe bets. However after that the water gets a bit muddy.

Re: 2021 NBA Draft Thread
Ecstatic if we end up landing Green, and not just for the scoring. The way he defended in the G-League, it wouldn't be unreasonable to picture him on another team's lead option deep in the playoffs. Best-case outcome for us.

Re: 2021 NBA Draft Thread
In case our luck doesn't hold up, was skeptical before but after seeing what Booker/Ayton's done in this playoffs I've started to buy into the hype around Alperen Sengun. If Lamelo can get away with this next to Biz, picture him beside a big who legitimately needs defending, and not by some puny small-ball wing playing the 5.

Re: 2021 NBA Draft Thread
I like Moody and Wagner at 11, but I think there's a chance both could get taken before that. I could also see Keon Johnson dropping because a lot of the teams picking ahead of us are loaded up on backcourt players. He reminds me of Marcus Smart, if we could get him to improve his jumper he could be really good. He and Miles running the break with LaMelo would be a thing of beauty.

Never made it up to Manchester, but I lived in London for about 7 years (moved back to the States in '18) - only left the city for quick day trips and the occasional visit down to Cornwall. Enjoyed the podcast - so you're pretty high on Sengun? He has an absolutely beautiful post offense game but scares me to death on defense. Seems like a perfect second unit-offense guy but not sure how you can keep him on the court against NBA starters. Are his defensive shortcomings overblown, or is he as bad as scouting suggests?

Man I have fallen in love with Jalen Green (Draft gods please). If we move up, but don't land top 3, I'd be all for trading down. No one in the 4-6 range really does anything for me. I know everyone loves Jalen Suggs, but I think he is a little overrated, and Melo is a better prospect.

Your Charlotte Hornets! We’ll eventually get something right;right?

If we land the 4 I hope we take Barnes and not hesitate
I’m content at 11 though, we could use any of the mid lottery players really. Good lottery for us, falls off about 12 or 13

I like Green and Mobley more than Cunningham, I also agree that there's a dropoff after those three. I wouldn't trade back if I was Mitch though, I'd take Jalen Johnson. He has some potential character concerns, but players as big/strong as he is with a good all-around game are hard to find.

Re: 2021 NBA Draft Thread
Chaos scenario: Orlando, OKC, and Golden State move into the top 3 in some order.
Minnesota gets 4... but the pick goes to GS because they only got top 3 protection in the Wiggins/Russell trade.
This pushes Houston to 5, which sends their pick to OKC.
Orlando also has the Bulls' pick at 8, but it'd slide to 9 in this scenario.
These 3 teams would have every top 5 pick, and 6 of the first 9.

Re: 2021 NBA Draft Thread
Here is my current ranking for pick 11:
1. Scottie Barnes - pipe dream but I think has the most star potential
2. Keon Johnson - kinda a Jalen Green-lite, would fit well with LaMelo
3. Moses Moody - Carbon copy of Mikal Bridges which is what we need more than anything IMO
3. Corey Kispert - Also a lot like Mikal Bridges, we really need this guy but Warriors will snatch him with Minnesota pick
5. Franz Wagner
6. Kuminga - I fear he is 4 years away from being a contributor
7. Ziaire Williams
8. Jalen Johnson
9. James Bouknight - I like him as a Rozier/Monk replacement but like the others better
10. Alperen Sengun - Very skilled but IDK, he doesn't move well, I'm afraid we'll get torched on D. Wouldn't hate the pick but would be disappointed with all the two-way big guards/forwards on the board
11. Kai Jones - I don't like his hands, feel like a player of his caliber is gettable in free agency

Re: 2021 NBA Draft Thread
Kispert just measured 6'7" wingspan so that knocks him down a few pegs
Moody also 3 inches below his college height

Re: 2021 NBA Draft Thread
Scottie Barnes with a 7' 3" wingspan! Holy ****
No way he lasts til 11 now
Jalen Johnson, Kai Jones with some impressive measurables too. Davion Mitchell got crushed at 6'0", 6'4". Keon Johnson, Moody, Kispert all dinged for size.

Jalen Johnson has the biggest hands in the combine, MJ be salivating.

Moody with an almost 7 '1 wingspan, no way he was dinged for size - his measurables are really good.
