Re: 2021 Free Agency
I can’t believe some of you are acting like we took a major step back because we will have to move forward without: Devonte, Zeller, Monk and potentially Biz. We certainly lost some production, but now other players get to play a bigger role and we are still likely to bring in some supportive pieces. The key here is we’ve maintained flexibility for in-season and beyond to make big moves. There’s work to be done and I think people need to chill and wait until at least a few days after the start of free agency before we know what our initial roster is going to look like. I applaud the moves so far with the exception of Monk, and even that may not be 100% over yet.

Maybe we could facilitate the LAL/Hield trade by S&T'ing someone else for Wright's expiring deal.
Wright already traded in 3-way ATL/BOS/SAC; SAC got Tristan Thompson BOS got Dunn ATL got Wright

Bouknight>Monk
Kai>Biz
Plumlee>Zeller
Ball is getting a bigger role and should be even better, making Devontes loss sting less
This team is still better than last year

Re: 2021 Free Agency
The Spurs, Mavericks, Kings, Lakers, Magic, 76'ers, Raptors, Heat, Jazz, etc. still have a lot of work to do. They either have to clear salary to afford their commitments, clear roster spaces, or still have guys to sign.
Guys like Ingles, Cauley-Stein, Thompson, Nunn, White, Powell, etc. could become cap casualties.

Re: 2021 Free Agency
You have to think the Spurs are working on something. DeRozan, Gay, and Mills are all still unsigned. And Oubre was also rumored to be one of their main targets. They must be working to clear extra cap space.

Re: 2021 Free Agency
Damn Atlanta signed Gorgui Dieng. I liked Dieng as a cheap backup. Would’ve been an upgrade over Cody or at least a lateral move / better fit (more size, rim protection, shooting, less injury prone)

Rookie Kai it's not better than current Biz
So the immediate impact is a downgrade at both positions. Hopefully both rookies will outproduce those veterans in the near future, but it certainly won't help this team in a playoff Chase for next season.

Let's keep this as the free agency thread so we don't have derailed threads all over the board.

Re: 2021 Free Agency
I would assume Spurs
Plan A: Sign John Collins and use MLE on Mills
Plan B: Sign 2 of Derozan,Oladipo or Oubre and use MLE on Mills.
so we might not see much movement until Collins deal is done.

Team I’ll be watching today: Charlotte. The sign-and-trade of Devonte’ Graham potentially sets up some other options for the Hornets; they can use $15 million in cap room or put together a more convoluted sign-and-trade with Graham’s outbound salary that returns a player like Lauri Markkanen, or do some combo of each. One way or another, they need to get another guard and another rotation-caliber big.

Re: 2021 Free Agency
I would just be very curious to know what our front office's plans were for yesterday and how much things went sideways from what they anticipated/hoped for. Because, if we are not shooting for a top-four seed in the playoffs then what the hell are we doing with Gordon and Terry? Pick a Direction.

Well, I will say I'm happy to see us dodging Hood/Dekker/Bjelica bullets.

Re: 2021 Free Agency
Considering half the team are u-23 players, I wouldn't want Whiteside. Potential bad influence.

Re: 2021 Free Agency
With that in mind, the team certainly could use a few more grown-ups in the room for next season.Chapelchilla wrote:Yeah, no bozo’s please
