Re: #Ilovehashtags: The Bismack Biyombo Thread
Well Veselý is to blamed but most importantly Wizards happened to him. They basically took all he excelled in away from him and tried to rebuilt him into something else he never played before. This may not be necessarily bad but in case of Wizards at that time it certainly was. I don't understand their drafting that year. Singleton doesn't do well at all as well.

Re: #Ilovehashtags: The Bismack Biyombo Thread
I find myself getting nervous that they may not exercise Biz's option since we're so close to the deadline.
Thoughts on why we wouldn't? Or why we would wait so close to the deadline?
I feel like Biz is a very suitable back up center with potential to get better. At the cheap price, why not?

Re: #Ilovehashtags: The Bismack Biyombo Thread
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't seen any news about Kemba or MKG's options being exercised either. I'm sure they're just gonna do it at the deadline. I'm not sure what the deadline was last year, but Kemba and Biz were both exercised around this time (10-26).
Found this article from Lowe on questionable 4th-year option guys, it's almost two months old, and - aside from a crack about Biz's age - it's a decent read. Makes the point that these guys are only due a slight raise from year 2 to 3 but a much larger raise in year 4 (Biz is due an increase of about $800,000). Though we should definitely have the cap space to cover it.

The Bobcats already exercised the option to pick up both Bismack Biyombo & Kemba Walker. I don't think it was discussed much because it was pretty much a no-brainer
If we are talking about contract extensions, neither Biyombo or Kemba are due until next year's deadline. This year's big name rookie contracts that are to be or were extended are John Wall, Evan Turner, Derrick Favors, DeMarcus Cousins, Greg Monroe, Gordon Hayward, and etc.

Re: #Ilovehashtags: The Bismack Biyombo Thread
That tweet is a year old, and it is almost certainly referencing their third year options (I mentioned it in my post, too). We're talking about their 4th year options, and MKG's third year option, of which nothing has been mentioned (that I've seen).

Let's just hope that they don't pull a Denver Broncos- Elvis Dumervil fax machine fiasco. That'll be rather embarrassing for Michael Jordan, who's already a butt of jokes as far as NBA owners go

Re: #Ilovehashtags: The Bismack Biyombo Thread
Obviously it seems we'd have to be stupid not to pick up the option on Biyombo a week after 2 20 rebound games (even if only preseason)
But then again we are the Bobcats.
Time to get nervous guys.

Re: #Ilovehashtags: The Bismack Biyombo Thread
I'm excited for this game tonight. I think people will talk a little about him if he pulls off a double-double with 3-4 blocks. He goes ham against Houston, and he goes ham against Dwight Howard. This seems like a great opportunity for him to play really well and get some well-deserved recognition.
investigate Adam Silver

Re: #Ilovehashtags: The Bismack Biyombo Thread
Today is the deadline to see if were going to exercise Biyombos option. I'll be shocked if they don't, but crazier things have happened.

In my opinion, it wouldn't be that crazy. The other 29 teams in the league probably think he's a scrub.

Well, not to pick up his option and then lock him up cheaply one year earlier? Well...it may not be worth the possible damage to chemistry.

$3.8M is a big cap hit for the type of production Biyombo's had the past two seasons.

Re: #Ilovehashtags: The Bismack Biyombo Thread
Without a doubt, Bismack looks like a better player than last year. His court awareness looks much better as he didnt look like a "floater" on the floor last night. I felt like he looked physically bigger too, which is a good reason to why he looked competitive against Houston's bigs. I'm still waiting on Clifford to implement a strong pick n' roll game with our dynamic guards and our solid bigs.
Mike Malone was never given a fair chance in Sacramento, and Ranadive will soon come to regret that, when he's on top of the WC inevitably contending somewhere

Exactly. Some might not like this comparison but Chris Singleton has had about the same production during his NBA career and he didn't get extended for a year that would cost the Wizards a million less than Biz would cost us.

I can agree with that. Suns recently gave up on Kendall Marshall. Biyombo just hasn't produced, and hes due to make what, like 4 million + next year?

Yeah it's rough. We all say Biyombo is a project and he is, but almost $4M for a project is tough with the current CBA.
The Bobcats probably didn't expect him to be a star right now, but at least to be showing constant improvement and proving his worth.
My gut tells me they're going to exercise the option though, but it wouldn't be surprising if they didn't.

Re: #Ilovehashtags: The Bismack Biyombo Thread
Yes. At this point it's just business, you have to forget about all the feel good articles on his work ethic you've read.
If they don't pick up the option, well.. what can you do... Clifford will have to motivate him by telling him to "prove the management wrong" or "just doing what he does best on the court and forgetting about the business side of the game".
