every 6 months or so I binge on mixtapes I like listening to music most people have never heard of. my new favorite new artist right now is Kevin Gates. By Any Means and Stranger Than Fiction go hard i love it. Also the new Killer Mike RTJ2, Troy Ave, vince staples and jon connor but dont know how to feel about Jon Connor because it feels like he is cheating

oh, I absolutely know what you're talking about. it could be random hip hop from the 90s where the artist only managed to release two twelve inches or it could be complete underground from today, I also have artists like that which I like. then you turn around and find that particular song on youtube and see that it has had 500 viewers in 3 years.

For some reason, Run the Jewels (as a duo) isn't really my thing but I've grown to really like this effort of theirs (RTJ2). I like it way more than RAP Music or RTJ.
Jon Connor is a known name to me. Not in a sense that I've heard a full album of his, but have heard him on features and a few of his own songs. Why is he cheating?

Re: OT: What Are You Listening to Now?
maaan... I'll tell anyone who listen that Slim Kid Tre was real damn good and should have been big after Pharcyde broke up. he should have had a place in the music industry. was cool to see him and DJ Nu-Mark from the Jurassic 5 release an album this year though.
a classic.

Tre's verse is fantastic.
There comes a time in every man's life
When he's gotta handle **** up on his own
Can't depend on friends to help you in a squeeze
Please, they got problems of their own
and I love the word-play of...
I don't sweat it, I let the bull blow in the breeze
In other words, just debris
countryboi - haven't had the time to check Connor's mixtapes out yet. which one would you recommend though? over Kanye's or Biggie's beats?

Re: OT: What Are You Listening to Now?
such a pleasant and unexpected surprise to see the Cunninlynguists release a new EP

their bandcamp page always gets me. the opportunity of paying as much as you want for their new release plays a psychological trick on me and I end up paying what you need to for a physical copy (this time around there unfortunately wasn't a CD release) anyway.
they also supplanted Gang Starr as my number one most listened artist on last.fm (so since 2009). big day for the Cunninlynguists and my last.fm profile. for some time it seemed like Gang Starr was unreachable.

oh yeah? I heard that it's bit of a downer. being a huge fan of his catalog, wasn't ready to be disappointed by a DOOM album so never got around to listen to anything besides the two singles or whatever.
as for J Cole. I guess you can call me a "backpacker" for such reasons, but I just don't feel his type of music. Have tried listening to him in the past, not really a fan. But, hey, I'll admit that I'm ignorant about his capabilities and the music he has released.

I wanna like j cole but his content is so boring. I don't know if I have ever heard him talk about anything other than having sex with college chicks.
If rap was a fighting game j cole would be the jack of all trades middle of the road guy.

Make it through this song without crying, I DARE YOU. Try not to have an accident over Kenny's free flowing chest hair!!!!

You can't beat it.
Listen to the ladies swoon.
Listen to them scream and screech in the background.
Hear the lamentations of the women.

Funny - I first heard this song and saw this music vid about a month ago. I was just in awe of it. The song itself is awesome but the music vid is simply breath taking. So beautifully done.
As I was sitting there in the glow of my first experience with this song and vid, the next song and vid came on the chart show I was watching. The song and vid - Jennifer Lopez and Iggy Azalea signing about having big, big booties.
Shocking to go from something so beautiful to something so tacky and............stupid.
P.S. I can't get enough Otis Redding, Solomon Burke, Etta James, Percy Sledge etc at the moment.
Great stuff.
