I really feel like Hayward is the perfect mentor/player for our team. He won't ruin our draft chances because I expect he'll miss at least 20 games due to rest/injury. The guy is a facilitator and plays great team ball.

Could have 65-70 million in cap room if we give out no long deals and so far so good

Graham will need extension and Monk we’ll have to figure out but they can be after we draft Cunningham and sign Giannis so that’s good

Assuming we're offloading Zeller in a S&T (it's the only one that makes sense for Boston and Charlotte) this is what our roster looks like now:

PG: Graham, Ball, Riller
SG: Rozier, Monk, Martin
SF: Hayward, Bridges, other Martin, Batum
PF: Washington, McDaniels
C: Carey, Richards?

What?

Have you watched Hayward play dude? If we didn't get Hayward, half this board would be talking crap nonstop about Lamelo. Now he actually has a chance to post some triple doubles. Hayward is a great mentor for Lamelo. I couldn't think of a better one.

It's a bad move because it makes us better next year when there is a great draft in 2021. It doesn't put us in contention but keeps us in the 8-10 seed area. We needed another year and another top pick before we threw money at aging vets at the very least.

Lamelo needs a mentor. He's young, we have a team of young guys. You let Monk lead Lamelo and see where he is in 2 years.

If you want a mentor then get Garrett Temple for 5 mil. Not Hayward for 30. You realize this ends the rebuild right? In a year where it would be have been so nice to keep it going for literally one more year when there wont be games in person.

It doesn't end the rebuild. Hayward can't win games himself, but he can help the team make smarter decisions. In a shortened season, I'd expect us to rest Hayward a lot of games. This is still a team that will pick high lottery next year.

One thing that you have to remember is that we got lucky to be picking top 3 last year. We did not lose anybody of importance really and we added a top 3 talent to a team with three other guys who were all lottery talents (including Graham).

Chances of out-tanking Detroit, OKC and even Pelicans potentially were low. I would love a top 5 pick, but we need to see this thing fully play out before freaking out.
