PJ is gonna have a bunch of kids with Brittney Renner and get arrested for child support.

Wonder what Kai does? Maybe he traffics Gordon's meth to the Bahamas. That's why he is so athletic. He straps it to his back and swims there.

If we draft Wembayama he'll get arrested for not having a passport and deported.

This is the Jailcats way.

I would be curious to know what sort of programs various teams around the league have in place to help guide and Mentor some of their young players to help them avoid some of the troubles that we have seen hit our young players in the past few years. I would be curious to know what sort of programs and processes we have in place by comparison.

I agree that it's not fair to blame the franchise for the actions someone on the team takes away from the court, but that also shouldn't stop them from doing everything in their power to prevent future occurrences, thru combinations of mentors, role models, counciling, info sessions, etc... it's a small amount of effort and resources when compared to losing a player to something that might have been prevented thru these various steps.

And if you have all of these things in place, and a player still goes out and does something stupid on their own time, then at least you can say that you've done reasonably everything within your power to guide the player away from those types of incidents.

The other side of the coin is to try to identify players with a previous history of poor decision making and factor that into the draft and free agent signing process. But that certainly isn't going to stop every incident from occurring. Some people make dumb decisions and have no previous red flags. People change for better and worse. And sometimes teams need to gamble on a player because the upside is there and it's worth the risk.

At the end of the day, these are grown ass men who have to take responsibility for their actions.

wrong answer = lunch with Gordo

We had Jeff Taylor and PJ Hairston get in trouble the one offseason we signed Lance. iirc Jeff "Rocky" Adrien was arrested at some point around there too?

Could the All-Jailcats team beat our current team?

Forgot about Ben Gordon too. He chucked a ball at Dunlap and was just arrested for beating one of his kids.

Gerald Henderson viciously attacked a fan with the ball.

Melo also taunted Christian Wood and made him do it too.

Absolutely is on the franchise, you don't notice this happening with any other team, right?

The structure of the organization is terrible and shows a lack of accountability, and frankly a lack of caring. They are so far behind other NBA front offices. You have to start thinking of this team as Cleveland Browns/Sacramento Kings level, because honestly they might be worse than that.

Technically doesn't apply because his legal trouble came after leaving the team.

**** it though I'll include him. It's the Jailcats, breaking the rules is what they do

The two teams that just made the finals have a starter beating up a teammate because of jealousy related to an extension and a head coach that was fired because of a sex scandal.

You seriously think other teams are giving a "don't beat your wife" lesson, and our issues are because we didn't?

You're just using one example of hundreds of ways a young player could get in trouble.

You don't think that the NBA and teams have resources in place to guide 19-year-old players who just came into a s*** ton of money? It would be idiotic if they didn't have programs in place for this kind of stuff. Teaching players how to deal with the media, teaching them how to deal with money or fans or groupies or how to eat healthy or how to order a f****** Uber when you're out drinking.

Having strong leadership in the locker room that's there to lean on some of these young players to help them guide them through some of these immaturity issues.

I'm not saying that the players don't need to accept responsibility for their actions, what I'm saying is billion dollar franchise need to do everything they can to protect their Investments and if that means they have some resources on the staff that are here to guide people, I think that's a pretty easy thing to do.

And I'm not suggesting the Hornets don't have that in place, my question was more about the overall level of these types of programs and how the Hornets stack up across the league.

I know that the NBA does: https://therookiewire.usatoday.com/2019/08/17/nba-rookie-transition-program-athlete-support-system-draft-two-way-contract/

It's the responsibility of the NBA and NBPA, not the teams. I'm very sure that once you show up to training camp you are expected to act like an adult and its not the coaching staff's fault if you get arrested.
