*sigh* this is why it sucks to go last... all the really great players will be gone and it'll be impossible to sell anyone that a pairing of secondary stars is capable of beating Kobe or Dirk or whoever.

You'll get two picks and then they'll be stuck with tertiary stars.

sadly this is the case in any draft format, unless we went auction style, which would be damn near impossible on a message board. i'm open for suggestions for next year's draft though.

quick note

the "first and last" category is a little thin. including this year's draft, i counted about 25 eligible players. i wouldnt wait too long on this one. if there is a situation were all the players are gone, i would allow someone to draft an undrafted rookie, a guy in the NBDL or a player playing in europe.

same applies to the southpaw, which i also counted a rough 25 players eligible (athough i didnt look at rookies for that one).

hold on fellas. I was also thinking about picking Durant as my toothpick but he's listed as 6'9" and 230lbs on nba.com

Silent auction. Someone suggests a player and every PMs you with a bid, or we go to a private google doc and do it.

Just a thought.

rules clearly stated that for weight and height use basketball-reference.com.

every site has different data listed. i chose bball-ref for their ease of use. i realize that they may not have all numbers accurate as of today, but as long as we are all using the same site we all have an even playing field.

Make all rounds completely random with a live drawing out of a hat or some other means. Didn't somebody do a youtube vid like this the other year (coolio I think?)

A private google doc wouldn't be so bad. Every Mod and maybe a few others could have access that way the picks would roll out faster, if that was a problem.

Well every two rounds (two rounds done serpent style every time) could be a good alternative anytime. personally I like back to back picks which would be gone though.

That sounds like a great idea to me. Random, snake style two rounds, Random again. I don't really have a stake in the format though lol

You are optimistic, or do not remember last year's voting. The best player available was Deron Williams, who Fred selected and then won going away. Several people specifically targeted Deron as the reason for their vote.

In the end, people will see Dirk or LeBron or Kobe or Howard and pick those teams, not the squad with Amare and Westbrook (or whoever will be there with 13 and 16).

Edit: Obviously an auction is one way to go about it... the other, which is the idea behind the previous two drafts, is to cut out any of the "instant win" players. Deron turned out to be a bit higher rated by some than we thought going in, but that was the idea.

Argh! I was also thinking of picking KD haha!

With the 4th pick of the 2011 Scavenger Draft, I select LeBron James for the All-Star category.

Sorry for taking too long to make a pick, I just woke up.

I select Kobe Bryant as my sharp shooter.

Twice in his career he has made at least 150 3 pointers in a season.

I also feel like this draft system is a bit unfair to the lower draft slot guys.

So I came up with a simple idea:

Reverse the draft order of the 3rd and 4th round,so instead of going 1-14 in the 3rd and 14-1 in the 4th,we do 14-1 in the 3rd and 1-14 in the 4th.

Good?

BTW I just found that some players are not eligible in all columns,e.g. Nene.

That's sad.
