you're moving the goalposts. Sessions had a 45% assist rate as a rookie btw
yeah, and then he got worse. hopefully Kemba doesn't get worse.

If Sessions becomes the starter, which I believe that he will, this kind of renders KC as a poor mans BG. I dunno, but I'd love to package Kemba and Gerald for a stud big, start BG and Sessions this year and then have a ton of $$$$ for UFA next season.

Great, he's a taller Augustin. That's an upgrade to me, I'll take Sessions!
Why would we need to do a S&T? Unless, it Williams/Carroll/tyrus/diop to the Lakers, I hope the S&T is not true.

Re: Bobcats sign Ramon Sessions
Really like the signing! Sessions brings us a PG with size who is going to be a good guy to develop Kemba. Sessions is a really strong passing PG, something Kemba could learn from. Plus Sessions is youngish, with some good years still left. Assuming it was for the right price (3-4 mill per) I am very happy.
I think that those thinking Kemba isn't going to start are getting ahead of themselves. I agree that we would be dumb not to make it a competition, however part of the reason we hired Dunlap was because of his specific plan for Kemba. This front office clearly has faith that with the right leadership, Kemba can be molded into a really good player. Honestly, to just judge Kemba based on last season isn't fair. I'm excited to see Kemba under Dunlap and I'm also very excited to see Sessions with Kemba on this team. For what we need, in terms of the development of Kemba and this team, Sessions fits the mold much better than DJ.
I would be fine with giving up Williams (Jeff Taylor has pretty much taken his role). Nothing more though. We WON'T give up draft picks, no way. As far as contract. I would be happy with a 3 year deal for either 9 million or 12 million. Anything too far over that would be pushing it. 5 million per would be my farthest limit.

Re: Bobcats sign Ramon Sessions
S&T of Williams for Sessions makes a lot of sense. For us it keeps cap space preserved and Williams has become a un-needed player with Taylor. For the Lakers it gives them a 1 year player who would provide 3 point shooting off the bench. At worst he's a small contract and leaves after next season.

Re: Bobcats sign Ramon Sessions
the article posted on page 2 called this an upgrade. augustin and sessions are about the same in terms of talent/production. its not an upgrade of talent. what it is however is a better fit and hopefully a player who wants to be in charlotte.

No way the Cats add anything of value to a S&T, we have ample cap space to sign him outright.
Maybe Reggie or Matt but, can't see anything else.

Yeah, I think Sessions is better than Augustin. It's a win for us simply b/c he's got decent size and probably won't pout all the time like DJ.

Do you guys have any good 3-point shooters? With Bynum/Kobe drawing doubles and Nash dropping dimes everywhere, it would help to have a good shooter.
Well, Nash is #8 in NBA history, and #4 among active 3pt shooters in the league - 43% over 16 years

Of course your gonna say that Kemba...but you better bring the real stuff to camp instead of that chucker junk or those last second dribble drives into nowhere.
Can some stats wizard give us the numbers of Sessions and Kemba as starters last season?
Again, I'm not hating on Walker; he just didn't deliver anything near quality last year. It takes time for PG's to develop in this league. Kemba shows more promise than DJ, especially on defense. But he's got a LONG way to go to become a guy that can run a team, especially in the halfcourt.
All this talk about running teams out of the gym...when we ever get BACK into playoff contention, you can't take that game into the post-season and win with it. Dunlap knows this, but he's building this team back up in a way to just get over the hump. I did the same thing when I coached youth basketball years ago. We had crappy skill players, so I made them defend like demons and run, run, run the other team to get transition baskets or get fouled. Against really good teams it had limited success. In the NBA it's a LOT tougher. I like the approach, but we'll have to play halfcourt effectively to win, and we'll have to defend and rebound really well if we want to get out and run like the wind every night.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Re: Bobcats sign Ramon Sessions
I would also agree that Sessions and DJ are probably about equal OVERALL. However, if you break them down I think the reason Sessions is better for this team (and therefore does improve us) are because of his size and passing ability. Remember, Sesssions once had 24 assists in a game. He is better at getting guys involved and running the offense. That is exactly what we needed to help Kemba along and to go in contrast of Kemba.
DJ and Kemba as your PG's just wouldn't work. Plus I think DJ has made it pretty clear he doesn't want to be here. Again, very happy with this signing assuming we didn't "break the bank" (pay over 4-5 mill per) on him.

Re: Bobcats sign Ramon Sessions
Sessions is extremely good passer once he gets in the lane. I would love for that to rub off on Kemba. I think Kemba will probably start especially since he is learning Dunlap system already. However I think Sessions is going to get plenty of minutes and also see time on the floor with Kemba. I think this is a definite upgrade over DJA. Purely because he has better size, playoff experience, and he is much more competitive.
Let the competition and arguments begin.

Re: Bobcats sign Ramon Sessions
session is a decent point....but he is not a starter he is first player off the bench guy....because his shot is BROKEN. I am not really a fan but he is 6'3 and a good passer
