#12 is the second slot, so that would be sachmo
think of the list I posted as being assigned a number. At least that's what I think fat lever did.

SWedd523 wrote:Yeah but if we're assigned draft slots according to that sequence, going down the list then it would look like this (sequence on the left, list on the right)
4 = fatlever
12 = sachmo
7 = bigslam
1 = lamarmatic7
11= amcoolio
2 = swedd523
9 = jmac3
6 = fred williamson
3 = kemba2hendo
8 = mkg14
5 = liver_pooty
10 = jduanewayne

You have to assign the random generated numbers to something don't you?
The only "list" we have is the "Definite Participants" list. Using that as the starting point, you can line up the generated numbers beside them. Without it you have no point of reference.
Using lamarmatic as an example:
He was 4th on the participant list. So you look at the 4th generated number (which is 1) so he gets the first pick. Right?
That's why I don't understand where the numbers are assigned.
MKG14 wrote:but the definite participants list is also numbered. You could just match number to number!

SWedd523 wrote:MKG14 wrote:but the definite participants list is also numbered. You could just match number to number!
... that's what I did
left number is participant #. right number is random order #. all i did was line them up
fatlever (1--4)... picks 4th
sachmo (2--12)... picks 12th
bigslam (3--7)... picks 7th
lamarmatic7 (4--1)... picks 1st
amcoolio (5--11)... picks 11th
swedd523 (6--2)... picks 2nd
jmac3 (7--9)... picks 9th
fred williamson (8--6)... picks 6th
kemba2hendo (9--3)... picks 3rd
mkg14 (10--8)... picks 8th
liver_pooty (11--5)... picks 5th
jduanewayne (12--10)... picks 10th
MKG14 wrote:Yeah but there are two ways to line them up, either number to number, or order to order

bro, it wouldn't change. the lists ARE numbers.
Here's the random order: (4, 12, 7, 1, 11, 2, 9, 6, 3, 8, 5, 10)
Using that order,
the person listed with the first list number (fats) gets the first number in the random order as their draft spot... which is 4
the person listed with the second list number (sachmo) gets the second number in the random order as their draft spot... which is 12
etc.
MKG14 wrote:do that process exactly backwards, so that #4 in line goes first, #12 in line second, and so on

SWedd523 wrote:Even doing that I got a slightly different order. The draft order has Slam and sachmo switched. Slam should be 9 and sachmo 6th, not the other way around

Fats, I suppose that the ruling on the "Windy City" category is that basketball-reference has to display the player's birth place as "Chicago", right? Because there are guys like Bad Porn and Michael Finley that come from some place called Melrose Park, which is a suburb to Chicago.
