Yeah but if we're assigned draft slots according to that sequence, going down the list then it would look like this (sequence on the left, list on the right)

4 = fatlever
12 = sachmo
7 = bigslam
1 = lamarmatic7
11= amcoolio
2 = swedd523
9 = jmac3
6 = fred williamson
3 = kemba2hendo
8 = mkg14
5 = liver_pooty
10 = jduanewayne

No I mean in the first list, your number (which was just who asked to get in first) corresponds to a generated number.

but why would you list them by the irrelevant "I'll join!" slot, and not the draft slot (which determines where you draft)? I think I'm confused

You have to assign the random generated numbers to something don't you?

The only "list" we have is the "Definite Participants" list. Using that as the starting point, you can line up the generated numbers beside them. Without it you have no point of reference.

Using lamarmatic as an example:

He was 4th on the participant list. So you look at the 4th generated number (which is 1) so he gets the first pick. Right?

That's why I don't understand where the numbers are assigned.

left number is participant #. right number is random order #. all i did was line them up

fatlever (1--4)... picks 4th
sachmo (2--12)... picks 12th
bigslam (3--7)... picks 7th
lamarmatic7 (4--1)... picks 1st
amcoolio (5--11)... picks 11th
swedd523 (6--2)... picks 2nd
jmac3 (7--9)... picks 9th

bro, it wouldn't change. the lists ARE numbers.

do that process exactly backwards, so that #4 in line goes first, #12 in line second, and so on

talk about a bass ackwards way to go about doing the order. Would've been much easier to just plug in the number next to the name.

Even doing that I got a slightly different order. The draft order has Slam and sachmo switched. Slam should be 9 and sachmo 6th, not the other way around

Either way, sorry mods for being an ass and taking up so much room.

Fats, I suppose that the ruling on the "Windy City" category is that basketball-reference has to display the player's birth place as "Chicago", right? Because there are guys like Bad Porn and Michael Finley that come from some place called Melrose Park, which is a suburb to Chicago.
