we sure do miss Sesh's penetration. the second unit seems to lack aggressiveness since all of those players rather take jumpers. I swear Ridnour hasn't had a successful drive to the basket yet. And upon checking out player tracking at NBA.com I was right - we haven't produced a single point after his (7 total) drives (any touch that starts at least 20 feet of the hoop and is dribbled within 10 feet of the hoop and excludes fast breaks)

He passes it off every time he gets down low.

Bonnell (who I despise) tweeted about maybe giving Jannero some minutes. Jannero is bad defensively, but Ridnour isn't much better. Jannero can at least get a shot up quick

what I was getting at is that he doesn't even get down low. so far he has had serious problems at getting past his defender. Getting within 10 feet of the hoop 7 times in 66 minutes is bad. For comparison, Neal (3.2 drives per game) and Gordon (1.6) who spend most of their time shooting long jumpers have a better rate than Ridnour's 1.4.

With the point, I think it's a no brainer that Clifford should give Pargo most or all of Luke's minutes. Pargo has shown this season that he is at least a capable passer.

He looked to slow to get passed his defender, when he pushed it and tried it looked like a turnover waiting to happen.

I hope I'm wrong as he looked done.

I still don't see the problem with a Neal/Hendo backcourt for the 2nd line..at least with the other option being Ridnour

This trade was a big bust. Easy to see what they were trying to do, but was a swing and a miss.

Maybe from the Ridnour aspect of the deal, but Neal was the primary piece. Neal is doing a good job of scoring double-figures in limited minutes off the bench & that's vital. Although Neal may be a carbon copy of Ben Gordon, he is more motivated

The only reason why I might think that the trade was a 'bust' was because Charlotte didn't really have offer anything of significance to acquire Neal, but they did by trading away maybe the two best players in the deal, Sessions & Adrien, all the while taking on more money this year into next season

the ridnour's inability to beat his man off the dribble is a terrible fit next to tolliver, neal and biz - 3 other guys who arent threats to beat their man off the dribble. the end result of that lineup is everyone passing around the perimeter looking for a crack to get inside the 3pt line. meanwhile, biz is trying to set pick, but either the players are too slow to exploit the gap he creates or biz's lack of offense means his man simply doubles the ball handler.

it would make more sense to stagger kemba/al so that ridnour is usually on the floor with al, giving us a low post option, negating the need to create offense via dribble drives.

losing sessions is going to bite us in the ass in the playoffs. kemba will have to play 40 minutes, and the 8 where he doesnt play will feel like a bad rollercoaster and probably cost us some games.

the 5-man lineup of ridnour, neal, tolliver, mcroberts and biz has an ORTG of 23 and a DRTG of 153 (i think the stats are only thru the pacers game, but last night they were equally bad. check back tomorrow)

That lineup has played 10 minutes tops and I hope we never see it again

how about we soon move to Cliff's preferred 9-man rotation and Neal sees time as the second point guard? not saying that it solves anything (yes, Neal can create, but only for himself...) but it definitely seems likely given the way Ridnour has been playing.

the way things are going, i fear the 9-man rotation would see zeller getting backup center minutes with biz as the odd man out.

yeah, small sample size. only 7 minutes so far + whatever minutes they logged last night. but its been so bad and so dysfunctional you can tell that its not just a statistical fluke. the fact that we are winning in spite of the 2nd unit (basically just ridnour and biz have been atrocious individually) speaks volumes to how good al, kemba and mcbob have been lately.

"At least Ridnour passes to Biz"

I remember seeing this on another topic.

But here, the play was perfect for biz, and he decided to take that floater which he missed...

apparently Clifford told Bonnell he is being patient and blames rust for Ridnour's poor play.

Lets hope he's right.

Cliff gotta understand that Ridnour is 33 years old and hasn't been good since 4 years ago when he was a rookie Brandon Jennings' backup. Age catches up to all of us, some faster than others.
