If we won the lottery and 1985 hopped into the Delorean I'd still draft Russell and sign Danny Green. Russell would be my combo guard and Green my swingman

Kemba/Russell
Green/Russell
MKG/Green/PJ
Zeller/Vonleh
Lopez/Biz

Not pictured: Lance Stephenson, Marvin Williams.

UNC players were all aware of Michael Jordan when they committed. Hopefully Jordan will get involved and get that guy here.

On the subject of Green:

“This year, for everybody, we want to make the best of it,” Green told the Observer. “We don’t know what it’s going to be next year. We’ve played every year like that regardless. We thought last year was the last year, and then the last year. But after this year, there are so many free agents and guys are older, we don’t know what’s going to happen.

“We’re going to try to make the best of it, as much as possible. With me, I’m trying to win a championship with this group because I still believe we can do it and let the future and the summer take care of itself.

“I’m just trying to play my best basketball. I’d definitely love to be here and stay here, but we’ll see what happens after the season.”

...

But if this season is it for the Duncan-led Spurs, is it the end of Green’s time in San Antonio? Green has played himself into a deal that will earn him more than his $4 million per year now, and with the NBA’s new TV deal before the 2016-17 season set to increase the salary cap from $63 million this year to close to $90 million, Green could opt for a short-term deal.

But that’s not what he wants—at least in San Antonio.

“I want a long-term. I’m not looking for one or two. One or two is not ideal for me,” Green said. “Obviously there’s the TV thing, and I feel like most guys are going to negotiate with that coming in. I want to be here long term. If I’m elsewhere, then it depends where it’s at. Then I might think about short-term and a one- or two-year deal.

“It depends on what happens this summer — who we lose, who comes back. And that changes everybody’s decision. But for the most part I want to be here and in this organization.”

Got a question for you.

Lets say we win the off-season lottery and not just the draft lottery. By this I mean Al and Henderson both opt out and we win the 1st pick. How highly do you value Towns/Okafor there?

My question is would you trade it for an established player or drop back a few picks for another young asset? I was thinking what happens if we get this lucky and something like Cousins blowing up in Sacramento happens. Would you trade #1, Zeller and a future first for Cousins?

I could see things going poorly there and them trying to come out of it with his replacement. Let them work with Towns/Okafor and then use their 4th or 5th pick on Winslow or somebody. I think if the chance arose I would have to take him and gamble that being with MKG and a new team could make him happy.

Geez. I have no idea what I'd want to do to be honest.

It would be an interesting position to be in though.

Demarre Caroll is playing himself out of our price range.

I'm way late on the Danny Green talk, but could you imagine him and MKG hounding guys on the perimeter? He would be the perfect compliment to MKG. Not to mention our transition defense would be the best in the NBA. I would love that if we could pull it off.

Im the captain of the Green talk, but we would need Henderson to opt out, and Mo gone to even entertain him a decent offer which would be 10-11 million which Im sure San Antonio would match.

The only way we'd have the money to sign Green is if Al opts out. Which sucks because I'd love to have either him or his cousin Gerald, they'd both be great fits for this team.

I still think Green's efficiency and general productivity takes a big hit as soon as he leaves San Antonio. I'd be willing to take the risk, but there's a pretty big part of me that won't expect it to work out.

Adding any shooter to this offense and having them fall off the face of the earth is something I am completely ready for.

Well it happened marginally this season. So may as well let it happen again.

What I like about getting Green is when we inevitably fire Clifford after he screws us over for another year we will have another solid piece for a new coach to use.

Well, I've been on the Green wagon for what seems like forever. No way in hell Pop lets him go though. him and Leonard and perfect on the wing together for the foreseeable future.

Love is out the next 6 months. I'd love to land him in 2016. He will have 30 teams after him since everyone will have an insane amount of cap room which works against us.

Thats another Cho issue. Working the contracts towards 2016. Well guess what? Now every team has cap room in 2016. And Im pretty sure Charlotte isn't on every players hot list.

You seem to go out of your way to make it clear you're hoping for it.

It's all about 2017 if you ask me. I'd just punt our cap space if I were Cho by trading for guys that could help us and should be available like Jose Calderon, Kevin Martin, and Jason Thompson.

2017 is where the real craziness will happen with the possible lockout and another jump in the cap.

I mean how does that criticism work though? Damn Cho, why didn't you tie up more long term money on the second tier FAs that will consist us?

The year of the great PG migration:

Curry
Westbrook
CP3
Holiday
Lawson
Rose
Hill

Edit: Hayward will also have a player option that year, I wonder if Cho planned that?
