Zero wins. Cho commits ritual suicide, Lin quits basketball forever to work in economics, Jordan sells the team to an Arab billionaire that relocates it to Qatar. Big Al find reality tv success with his show Big Bed Hunters International. Zeller and Kaminsky attempt a sitcom on the Disney Channel but can't hit that teenage girl demographic. The Toronto Raptors win the NBA Championship led by Finals MVP Bismack Biyombo. Noah Vonleh wins MIP after averaging a double-double and helping Lillard squeak the Blazers into the playoffs. Coach Clifford becomes lost at sea after living on his yacht. Rumor has it that inability to pick a port and fear of poor spacing at the docks led to his demise.

Went 40-44. I think we are in that 42-46 range. I just feel we are closer to a .500 team than a 50 win team.

We got better on offense, will the awful scheme actually show it?

We got worse on defense, will the good scheme actually show it?

We added more talent, and a little more depth. If we dot get hit with injuries hard like last year we should improve.

The rest of the East from 1-10 pretty much got better or stayed put. So that pushes my hopes down a little.

Borderline playoff team. most likely landing is anywhere from 7-10 in the East. Outside shot at 6 if everything breaks right. Back picking in the top 10 if everything breaks wrong.

Pretty optimistic numbers from you guys.

I didn't know where to ask this - but how do you think the Points should be spread out and how many shots players should take? I can't do this because I don't know the Hornets roster well.

Example:

Starting Lineup
Kemba - 18-22ppg, 7 ast, 13FGA
Batum ..and so forth.

high 30s to low 40s , this is a pretty solid team with a real system and indentity, but not enough top end talent at this point to really be in play for anything higher.

basically it's a high floor low ceiling team.

I am inclined to be an optimist, I say 50.

Kemba scores fine, Lin facilitates well, Batum the glue guy, MKG gets a jumper, Al gets fitter, Zeller flourishes doing PnR with Lin, Kaminsky PnP. (Lamb and Daniels shoot well)

:D

I would argue we added quite a bit more depth.

We lost Noah, Bismack, and Lance (Net Negative), but gained Frank, Spencer, Jeremy Lamb, and Jeremy Lin, and Aaron Harrison. That's quite a bit more depth, based on the expectation that Frank is going to produce immediately.

Mo -> Lin
Hendo -> Lamb
Stephenson -> Batum
Vonleh -> Kaminsky
Biyombo -> Hawes
Taylor -> Harrison
Maxiell -> Open roster spot

With the exception of Hawes for Biz, I'd say we made at least moderate improvements across the board. Not sure depth improved much though.

I know that you were talking general talent, but if we look specifically at BBIQ I think that the difference gets magnified. Batum, Kaminsky, and Hawes in particular strike me as pretty big upgrades in that department on the list.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Most definitely. The only IQ downgrade I see is likely Lamb for Hendo.

Early Stat Predictions (expecting a more balanced scoring effort this year) 9-man rotation

Jefferson: 17.5ppg, 8.5rpg

MKG: 12ppg, 7rpg

Lamb: 7ppg

Nice prediction - I think Lin could get 1 or 2 ppg and 1 or 2 ast but this depends on how many minutes he plays. How many players does the coach usually play?

He swears by 9-man rotations, though we often run 10 out of necessity - especially early in the year - in which case I'd imagine Marvin would get some PT as well.

Do you guys think Kemba is going to benefit from all the extra fire power we added on the offensive end?

More than anybody else. The combination of Al clogging the paint, and everyone else gravitating toward the paint, and nobody being a good catch-and-shoot, catch-and-finish, or pick-and-roll target was as bad of a combination as we could have possibly had around Kemba. Kaminsky's offense will help Kemba, and Batum/Lamb will help quite a bit as well. More than anything, getting rid of Hendo and Lance probably are addition by subtraction. Letting Al walk next summer for a defensive big would be the best thing we could possibly do though.

From an outside perspective I don't understand what your front office was going for this year.
I think your best option would have been to tank for 1 year and go with a Kemba, mkg, Winslow, vonleh, biyombo lineup.
I see this team fighting for an outside shot at 8th seed in that Indiana, Boston, newyork, Detroit, Orlando grouping

Of course he's going to benefit from having wings that shoot 3-pointers at 3x's more the rate than Henderson & Stephenson. Not just Kemba, but the entire offense should benefit from that. Ideally I would want someone to supplant Kemba in the scoring totem pole and reduce him to 3rd-4th option, but we'll see how it play out

vegas has published their projections

Charlotte Hornets (45.5 LY), finished 33-49: The acquisition of Nic Batum and drafting of the very capable Frank Kaminsky has this franchise encouraged that they’ve added some nice pieces to surround Al Jefferson and Kemba Walker. The x-factor remains former No. 2 pick Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, who has to prove he can stay healthy while rounding out his offense to keep from being a liability on that end of the floor. Projected wins: 35.5
