A 1 year, $5M deal is not huge by any reasonable definition.

Pretty huge for a guy that should be our 3rd string center. And not a good one at that. The going rate should be near the vet minimum. For the price of sessions and Hibbert we coulda kept Lee or lin

Think your chronology might be off a bit. Lin and Lee had both committed to starting roles for other teams before Sessions or Hibbert were in the picture.

And there are 3rd string centers making way more than $5M guaranteed. It's just silly to act like we made a huge financial commitment to Hibbert.

5 million a year has to be at least 5x what Hibbert's worth...

Someone on At the Hive commented that Zeller's out-of-position play on both ends of the court against San Antonio suggests he has not fully recovered from the concussion. He really did look out of sorts last night, and it was mostly mental, not physical.

What "out of position play"? He looked fine to me, that seems like a pretty big stretch.

Or after missing a week it's difficult facing the league's best defense sans Batum.

Zeller was called for a moving screen last night which he rarely does.

I think Cliff wants him to push the envelope more, and that's part of why he pushes physicality.

I agree, it's a huge advantage when the refs let you get away moving screens and so prevalent in today's game you have to follow suit. It's just a double edged sword if the refs start calling it more (they like to pick on us anyway), I don't want to see Clifford get pissy and bench him for the Hawebbert for following orders.

I'm not convinced that Cody Zeller isn't the MVP of this team. Until Plumlee proves he can actually replace what Zeller brings, we're going to lose most of our games without him.

Zeller is a great fit for this team and I'm not shocked that the team has been losing without him. I'm not on the Zeller = MVP train though. That's Kebma. The team would be in just as bad, if not worse, shape if he was out for a while.

The real issue was lack of depth at PG & C spots. I do think that Plum fixes this depth issue in the mid to long term at C. Now the team just needs a real backup PG.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

I've been saying it for years "this team is a sum of it's parts". The only player that is easily recognizable as above average is Kemba. Everyone else on the team is basically role players or below. When someone on this team get injured it becomes a glaring hole due to the lack of quality depth at any position besides the wings where it's interchangeable.

Any time table on his return? We have turned into one of the worst teams in the league without him. He really needs to come back soon or its time to blow this thing up

Nothing official - they showed him dressed and running around before the Utah game, but he didn't exactly look 100%.

@SiriusXMNBA
#Hornets HC Steve Clifford says Cody Zeller practiced today and looked good. He expects him to play tomorrow night.

Zeller's non advanced stats such as PPG, RPG, BPG, etc all compare rather poorly in comparison with Kemba.

They must've misdiagnosed his injury. No way a quad contusion does what was described in the observer article and causes him to miss this many games.

The Hornets are listing Cody Zeller (quad soreness) as questionable to play versus the Clippers Saturday. Sounds like a game-time decision.
