I agree that Bacon has G-Boro written all over him for a minute, but he is intriguing. He averaged 17ppg vs. Isaac's 12ppg for FSU and shot similar 3pt and FT numbers.

By no means am I trying to relate the two, but Bacon did put up some points. Watching a few of his vids he appears to have great size, athleticism and an ability to score in transition a lot. Seems to be good on the boards too. Maybe he's what we wished PJ would have turned into. Just have to wait a few years, but he could be a great off-the-bench guy.

I agree with this post 100 and was going to post this ass well. I do like that he seems to be able to score and has great size and n nba toughness about him. I think he will make the team but I do not see him as being anything more than a fillin nbn pro. there was decent talent left that we could have went with imo

I would rather have him that Mitchell tho. But I think he will make the team and get run. He seems like he can be a Cliff type of guy. Just solid tho with no real potential or a difference maker

I was noticing in the few days leading up to, and during the draft, that there were very few draftable true "wings" this year. There were a good amount of 1/2 combo guards, a good amount of 3/4 combo forwards, but not very many 2/3's which is generally where your 3&D guys come from. Because of that I dont hate the pick, it's not like we need him to start or really even play any time soon so getting all butt-hurt over our 2nd round pick doesnt make a lot of sense to me. Clearly there's a reason we wanted him, for better or worse. I just love how after the great moves weve made over the last week this has somehow ruined so many peoples moods...

If FSU didn't have him utilizing his defensive skills to their greatest benefit...

Cho just said Bacon has similarities to Joe Johnson. He has a total mancrush for Dwayne Bacon.

Well in Cho's defense they are both built like linebackers.

He had a section of fans at the FSU called the baconators. Someone got to get this going round here.

Seems like he's more a mid range shooter at this point but he looks more solid in that highlight package than some of the other late picks that we've had, though it's been a while, I know. If he looks half as competent in summer league than he did in that video then he already looks better than PJ.

I hope we could turn him into an elite 3 and D wing.

My take on Dwayne Bacon:

Some fundamentals can be fixed. He can be a space cadet in half court defensive sets. That'll drive Cliff to drink domestic beer. But he has good feet. He's not instinctive on line drives, but he has good feet and good length to cause trouble. Also, his shooting motion bothers me. It's repeatable, which just means that it's flawed, but consistently flawed. Begins his motion to the right of his head. That's fixable.

Looking at some film, Bacon finishes his drives too far from the basket. He doesn't have Kyrie repulsorsled capability to hang in the air, so he gets into trouble by not pushing through traffic to get closer to the rim to finish. Result: swats and prayers. Some of this is due to the fact that I think Bacon believes he is better than he is. Some youngsters take YEARS to discover they're not all that good and start working on their weaknesses. I hope Bacon learns his shortcomings early.

I think Dwayne Bacon will spend most of his time in the G-league. He needs pro coaching. And I hope he's smarter than I think he is. He'll need to be a smart player to overcome some of his limitations, ala Draymond Green. BBIQ is so underrated in today's uber-athletic NBA.

What were the injury red flags that some are saying hurt Bacon's draft stock? Is it a mystery?

I think he is going to be the new Derrick Brown for us. A guy who is insurance and does enough to stay on a roster. I still don't like the pick tho with what was left on the board
