Re: 2014 Free Agency Thread
sounds like Kendall Marshall will stay with the Lakers.
I think Brooklyn will keep Livingstone as well.
I'm back to wanting Vasquez as our backup point guard target

If we had the choice to offer $10 mil annually for 4 years ($40mil/4yrs) to Gordon Hayward, Lance Stephenson, or Klay Thompson, which would you choose?

That's what I was thinking. Let's all hope that the Clippers blow the Warriors out of the water in the 1st round and they start questioning paying Klay Thompson big money on the extension with their limited cap space.

Sign Tim Ohlbrecht, 25 yo 6'11" 250# C
BBIQ, good mobility, 80% free throws, backstory as German star who hit the D League to pursue his NBA dream would be a good fit alongside guys like CDR & Co., had NBA minutes with HOU, good fit at C3 for us imo.

I was going to suggest signed Greg Stiemsma for that role, but either way.
we're out of luck chrbal, the team already signed DJ White for the remainder of the season.
It's chrbal, I expect we get Stiemsma before next season starts then.

Re: 2014 Free Agency Thread
I'm not as high on Thompson as most...I certainly wouldn't mind having him here, but not as much as Hayward, who I think would look better next to Curry too.
Of course Hayward would cost more than $10m, but he also wouldn't cost a draft pick or other assets.

Re: 2014 Free Agency Thread
Thompson is a deadly shooter and he's a decent defender. I think he's a better fit for us than Hayward because he's not a ball stopper even though he can put the ball on the floor a bit. Hayward is a good fit too but his shooting ability doesn't really impress me.
It's all hearsay for now since we don't know what the Warriors are going to do with him but looking at their salary cap it look like it's very possible that he'll be moved for the right deal. The Warriors aren't a good enough team to take on luxury tax and then they're talking about getting a new coach.

In a landslide for me.
Although I probably wouldn't feel comfortable giving any of those three $10 million dollars a year.
I'd pay Thompson the most, Hayward the 2nd most and then Stephenson the 3rd most.

Re: 2014 Free Agency Thread
I got a feeling that we're going to end up with Stephenson on a bargain deal. Something like 6-7 mil for 2-3 years. I just think his stock is going to take a hit this postseason and he'll be looking to prove himself. No better place to try to prove your worth than with the Bobcats where it's open opportunity to be a star. Hell, we considered Hendo a part of our Big 3. Lol
I seriously doubt we'll be able to land Hayward since he's a RFA and the Suns want him more than us and the state of Utah love him.
Thompson is just a pipe dream as of right now even though the possibility of him becoming available via trade seem likely and we have assets.

Re: 2014 Free Agency Thread
I would actually prefer Hayward- reasons
1) Better all around player
2) Bigger
3) More efficient even tho his team is a lot worse (Thompson's per is below 15)
4) Can score in more ways
5)Better passer and rebounder
6) Fouls less

Hayward is definitely the better all around player as is Stephenson but neither of them can shoot the lid off the rim like Thompson and that's what we need. I would be happy with either of the 3 but I don't want to overpay for none of them either. If I had to overpay for one it would most definitely be Thompson because he's the quintessential 2nd-3rd option as a spot shooter for Kemba's ability to penetrate and Jefferson's post game.

but that is Klay's problem, he isn't really good at anything besides shooting, Hayward could do more for us as far as playmaking and rebounding and he is a pretty good shooter ( down year this season but is a 36.5% career shooter)

He's a good defender. I guess you can call him the best 3&D player in the league because he's a key reason as to why the Warriors are a top 10 defense.

Re: 2014 Free Agency Thread
I'm tired of "playmaking and rebounding" guys. I'm tired of "but he can do more stuff" guys. We have MKG to be our jack of all trades. We have McBob to be our playmaker. We need guys who can flat out stretch defenses and make opponents pay for doubling on Jeff and shadowing towards Kemba.
Give me the guy who is legitimately elite at a dire need for our team over a "solid all-around guy"

Re: 2014 Free Agency Thread
We need to stop messing around with jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none guys like Hayward. He has no elite skills, is easy to guard, and provides nothing we don't already have between CDR and Hendo. I'd rather pay less for a specialist three-point shooter like Morrow or make a trade for a really good floor spacer Kyle Korver, Arron Afflalo, or Klay Thompson, none of whom are liabilities on defense. If we sign one of Hayward/Stephenson/Turner, I hope to hell it's Stephenson, at least he's a scary defender who can do everything else well. Hayward and Turner's skillsets are essentially on our roster already. I'd rather keep CDR for $2M a year and start him over Hendo than pay market value for Turner or Hayward.
This team is full of guys who are jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none guys: I'd categorize Kemba, Hendo, McBob, CDR- they're all guys who are solid all-around players, but don't stand out against the rest of the league yet. They're valuable pieces, but you need role player specialists around those guys to be a really good team. Look at Miami- they've surrounded Lebron, Wade, and Bosh with really good shooters. Now imagine how less intimidating they'd be if Lebron, Wade, and Bosh had no three-point bombers around them. Replace Mario Chalmers, Shane Battier, Ray Allen, etc with Henderson and Turner and let me know how that works out.
Klay
Lance
Hayward

Lance over Klay. Klay cannot into defense. And Lance can ballhandle in case we upgrade/bench McBob
E: I have to believe the Warriors D was top 10 because of the 3 and 5 spots, especially Bogut.

You're underestimating Klay's defense. Iggy is their best defender and Bogut is a decent rim protector but Klay has to defend point guards every night. He's the one on CP3 right now. Klay's on-ball defense on the primary ballhandler plays a major part in them being a good defensive team.
