Just as a bit of a counter to the narrative here, but it's not exactly fair to ding our FO for what Montrez did this summer, given that he wasn't under contract at the time and he only was in Charlotte for like 2 months. That's not exactly an example of some big organizational failure with young players (Harrell is 28).

So you have the extremely unusual situation with Miles, and then a single incident of a DUI. I suppose you have the Monk incident back in 2020, but I would think that would be an example of things operating as they should and our FO doing a good job of using appropriate discipline.

So three incidents for an FO that has been in place since 2018.

Am I missing something? This doesn't seem like the dumpster fire that people are making it out to be.

Like what are we seriously expecting here?

Absolutely is on the franchise, you don't notice this happening with any other team, right?

The two teams that just made the finals have a starter beating up a teammate because of jealousy related to an extension and a head coach that was fired because of a sex scandal.

You seriously think other teams are giving a "don't beat your wife" lesson, and our issues are because we didn't?

Yes, I seriously think our organization is the "boys will be boys, just show up for practice and games! we'll try our best!" type of organization, with zero leadership, accountability, or a desire to seriously compete

There's no leaders on the team, which is ironic because we have the GOAT as owner. They hired a retread old white guy for coach that doesn't relate to today's players and that players clearly already don't respect, and Kupchak looks stoned out in treadmill mode, while MJ appears to be "don't care what they do, just keep making money" mode

Again, prove me wrong. I'm here to be proven wrong, but the team is terrible and predictable. Lets take it up the ass as fans again for another non-playoff season and extremely small chance to draft a difference maker (and we used up all our luck on LaMelo, so lets wait another 5-10 years)

proves the point that players of bouk's skillset are always available in 2nd round. slight framed 2-guard who isnt a great 3pt shooter, passer, ballhandler or defender... thats a late 1st/early 2nd range, not top 11. mocks and scouts were way off. he had shown 3 possible nba level skills, mid-range jumper, getting to rim, iso soring. nobody cares about the 1st skill and the 3rd is a skill that usually results ball stopping and unless you are elite in this area, typically tanks an offense.

Charlotte Hornets guard James Bouknight was arrested for allegedly driving while impaired early Sunday morning … TMZ Sports has confirmed.

The 6’4″, 160-pounder was booked around 1:51 AM, according to the Mecklenburg Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina. His bond was listed at $2,500.

Bouknight was a star for the UConn Huskies before going 11th overall in the 2021 NBA Draft.

He averaged 4.6 points in 31 games in his rookie campaign … including a 24-point performance against the Sacramento Kings.

Bouknight’s arrest adds to a hellish offseason for the Hornets … after star Miles Bridges was accused of abusing his girlfriend in front of their children. Former Charlotte forward Montrezl Harrell — who recently signed with the Philadelphia 76ers — was also busted for having marijuana in his car.

The Hornets released a statement … saying, “We are aware of the incident involving James Bouknight and are in the process of gathering additional information.”

James Bouknight was found unconscious in a parking deck around 12:44 AM, according to a police report obtained by TMZ Sports.

The report also indicates JB had a 40MM gun, a Glock 23, with him at the time of the arrest. The report doesn’t specify whether the gun was legal or illegal, though, it doesn’t appear Bouknight was charged for the weapon.

So, he drank to the point of passing out in his car.

Taking this into account with his arrest for DUI in college, he may have an alcohol problem.

Gun is for NBA player protection at night, I get it.

So...they arrested him for being passed out in his car in a parking deck? Doesn't make sense.

Yes.

The legal answer is yes, you can get charged with a DUI-related offense with no proof of driving, with no keys in the ignition, or even sometimes outside of your car.

"A search of public records shows Bouknight has other upcoming court appearances for other driving-related offenses, including charges of speeding and reckless driving in both Mecklenburg and neighboring Cabarrus counties."

"According to the Meck County Sheriff's Office, James Bouknight was also CITED on Oct. 10, Feb. 23, and Nov. 11, 2021 for reckless driving.

That means this was his second offense in the past seven days."

Not for nothing, but I feel like there's a reason when Marvin Williams was brought back..the Hornets SPECIFICALLY made sure that everyone knew he was gonna be helping players handle their off-the-court affairs.

my point exactly - there are things teams can do to help guide young players, to help them make better decisions. its not just the responsibility of the players association. having guys like marvin around can only help. its a very easy thing to do to help protect your investment in these guys.

that stretch of lane, carruth, bobby phills all happened in close proximity. it was a rough time.
also when my favorite golfer and boyhood idol payne stewart died.
