You are selling Miller short. We don't draft him #2 to go stand in the corner and shoot 3's. Miller is going to be our go to guy as he gets more experience.
I said in my comment that was for the next couple of years. I think even in the best case scenarios next year he's still the third option behind melo and miles. If we bring everyone back, I think it's a safe assumption that he doesn't even start next year.

What does a 3-year progression look like for him statistically?

14, 18, 22ppg? With fairly rough percentages that first year.

Meanwhile, it would be shocking if both miles and lamelo both weren't over 20 points per game next year, with one of them potentially pushing 25.

Miller's primary contributions his first two years will most likely be as a three-point shooter, 2nd team bucket getter.

I think miles has the talent to take a leap next year if his head's on straight, and he's remained in good shape. A focused, Motivated miles who isn't getting **** up 24/7 could be a legit baller. It might take him a month or two to knock the rust off.

Miller will be potentially competing with miles, pj, Hayward, terry, and Cody for minutes next year. (I can't see any way they would bring back Kelly if we draft Miller, that would be Beyond ridiculous)

Of course we may trade Terry or Hayward and let pj walk.

A lot will depend on the coach.

If Clifford is the coach you're right he probably wont see much time. If we get a new coach his progression might come a lot faster. I still think he will be our go to guy sooner than later. I say by year 3 he will have established himself as our best player and scorer.

Short "prove it" contract, not more than 2 years ~$20M per. Any longer sends the wrong signal in my opinion.

This isn't morality class. A short-term contract is a disadvantage to the franchise. We should be just adding as many team options and non-guaranteed money behaviour/performance clauses as possible.

Just worried his agent does a Zion. Just my opinion, not contesting more years is better for the Hornets.

To be fair to Granger injuries wrecked his career. He wouldn't have been a 1 time all-star if it wasn't for injuries. So I don't think the OP is taking into account the injuries, more his best days as a player.

Eh I lean towards trading 2 for Zion as the best option too. If we draft Miller, I already know Cliff will pull a Monk on him and shatter his confidence year one by playing him 30 seconds a game.

Zion/Williams/Ball/Bridges is a guaranteed top core in the league but also has scary health and off court problems. One of those moves that could make or break a franchise for a decade tbh.

Besides Lamelo and late season Mark, I've been so bored with this teams directions since like 2013 which probably explains why I would wildly jump into such a high risk high reward move.

i hear ya, but even in the four years of his peak, he was a borderline all-star. good player, not great. bit of some empty stats.
if you offered me peak granger or a chance at the unknown with miller or scoot, i'd take the unknown. its like saying scoot is mike conley. nice player, but i'd want more for #2. i'd take door #2. thats just me.

For some reason Miles and the Cavs are trending on twitter. I can't find anything reputable as to why

A picture of him and Garland together.

Then separately Windy said they are working on something big. My guess would be it has nothing to do with Bridges and more to do with Jarrett Allen going to a new team for wing help, but who knows.

Peak Danny Granger was a problem and he was a 26ppg scorer.

If we getting that kind of player we are lucky. Injuries was the only thing that kept Granger from being a all-star.

Yeah, but Granger was a wing and therefore was actually more valuable than the all-star/all-nba players that weren't wings.

For instance, in Grangers all-star season Dwayne Wade was 1st team all-NBA, but Wade was a small guard who can't shoot (6'3.75" at the combine) and Granger was a 6'9" wing who shot 40% from 3pt, so Granger was actually more valuable.

Long time Pacer fan that well remembers Granger and Wade. Danny was a much better shooter, and a lot taller, but even at his peak he could not be considered more valuable than D Wade.
Miller reminds me a lot of Granger. A bit more lithe and a bit less strong. If he becomes a Danny Granger, and stays healthy, he'll be a really good pick.

He signed the qualifying offer. He'll be a FA next summer.

If you wanted Bridges long term... tough, he's a UFA after this season and can and will bolt for a team that isn't a total cluster ****. Or the team would likely have to overpay for his services Jerami Grant - style.

If you didn't want Bridges long term, but still wanted the team to benefit from him as a trade asset... tough, any team trading for him loses his Bird Rights due to stupid rules on the qualifying offer.

The Hornets still get heat for being the team that brings him back.

Miles Bridges loses a ton of money for a second straight year.

I'm not sure who this benefits, exactly, aside from Miles' next team a year from now.

I said last night I was terrified both him and PJ would take the qualifying offer. There's one down. Gah dang.

Mitch is in so far over his head when it comes to team building and asset management.

We desperately need some new leadership on the basketball side, someone who better understands the modern climate.

Also, Miles and Klutch can go **** a bag of dicks. He must be asking for some nonsense money.

Lol I called it!

Rich Paul would make it hard just because this is MJ's franchise.

Miles is a real piece of work.

He should have called Nerlens Noel and asked how that worked out for him. A year of rust, or a major injury, could tank his value beyond what he's expecting.

I'll be honest, I don't get the outrage. Did you think he would just like in a long term deal on bad terms?

A short term deal seems best for everyone's interests.
