Looking like he was a scapegoat for MJ and Mitch's **** show. Its wild that people were mad at him for not playing Bouk or Kai when he had a playoff or your job mandate and also forever lol about the deadline deals Mitch cooked up to bolster the playoff push being Isaiah Thomas and Montrezl Harrell.

that stretch of lane, carruth, bobby phills all happened in close proximity. it was a rough time.

Still the best trial I ever saw. The carruth trial was EPIC. Everyday there was something new lol

It's also illegal to sit in the drivers seat of a cranked car without a driver license. Or to steer the car if it's being pushed.

Seems whack as hell, but the silver lining is maybe he gets a wakeup call now before maybe doing something dumb with higher stakes.

honestly, its kinda **** up reason for a dui. just take keys away and call person a cab.

DUI Not Driving Defense – Can a DUI Lawyer Use This Defense For You?
Can you get a DUI if you sleep in your parked car? The legal answer is yes, you can get charged with a DUI-related offense with no proof of driving, with no keys in the ignition, or even sometimes outside of your car. The proceeding information of this type of driving under the influence charge is outlined below, as well as legal tips and probable cause defenses how to avoid a “DUI while parked” conviction if arrested.

Even if your car doesn’t start, the law under the Supreme Court ruled you can get a DUI without driving and while the car is not moving or parked. Most of us have heard stories from our parents, friends, or relatives about going out “back in the day” and needing to sleep it off in the car. In fact, many of us may have done something similar when we were younger during a vacation or weekend away. While it seems harmless, today, you can actually get a DUI while parked even if you never started or moved the vehicle.

Taking this into account with his arrest for DUI in college, he may have an alcohol problem.

(Not saying this is the scenario at hand but.....) if dude went out drinking and decided to sleep it off in the car instead of driving home then I'm okay with it.

I think the legalities surrounding DUI for folks in parked cars is iffy at best.

I know of anecdotal stories of guys getting them for turning the car on to have heat/ac while they slept in the back "Intent to operate a motor vehicle while intoxicated" etc, etc

Have a buddy who almost got hemmed up for just that. The only thing that saved him was that he put his keys inside the gas cap

EDIT: I see y'all touched on the wonky DUI/moving vehicle violations. Again, don't know the specifics, but that's kind of a **** way to get someone.

i don;t even know what to make of the gun. i just assume everyone in the usa is driving around with a gun these days. was it his? was it registered? was it loaded? did it have the serial # scratched off lol. was it in his hand? concealed?

I mean I keep at least one in mine and my wife's car at all times and have one close by almost 24/7. There's nothing wrong with exercising your rights and being able to protect yourself and your kids.

As a young, rich, famous (ish) athlete in today's world, I'd consider it responsible for him to keep one nearby or at least a friend or body man for sketchy situations.

Yup, don't care about the gun, just as long as it was his, registered and he's responsible with it.

Some rumors this occurred on sat night after the Hornets gala, a sponsored team event. Does this change anything? I dunno...

Is the team Watching players get hammered at an event and not wondering how they plan to get home? Hey bouk, just go sleep it off in your car.

If he was passed out in backseat, does that change the dui? Lesson #1 from Marvin to team, always sleep in backseat when too drunk to drive home.

In a one-off, not a concern really... it's the pattern that's emerging.

Maybe there were reports of the car driving erratically? Hopefully we find out. I must admit coming across a dude passed out next to a glock on the passenger seat would freak me out, but that’s because that’s unheard of here in Aus.

To get a dui here, you have to have the keys in the ignition to be deemed in control of the car, but really the cops would be expected to provide some evidence that the car was being driven on a road as well. Our farmers can do what they want on their private tracks, it’s why they all know how to drive before turning 10.

Yet another charachter question mark drafted by this brain trust. Yes, I saw Bouk fall and was like the tempted idiot…saying DRAFT HIM!

Very disappointing results so far…was hoping he would turn things this season. Might still for sure, but another banana peel moment for him…and this one can be a bigger problem due to criminal violations.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

https://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/charlotte-hornets/article267431857.html

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police report, Bouknight was found just before 1 a.m. in a multi-story parking garage connected to apartments, a grocery store and the Stonewall Station light rail stop. Police radio communications, obtained from Broadcastify, indicate first responders from Medic, Charlotte Fire and CMPD attempted to rouse Bouknight and have him open the locked car.

When officers ran his car’s tag and ownership information, they learned Bouknight was the owner and that he had a pending concealed carry permit. Open carry is allowed under North Carolina law in cases where the gun is considered legal and the person is not banned from having a firearm.

...

Already, Bouknight was expected to appear in court in North Carolina later this month for a previous violation. Bouknight has several pending charges in Cabarrus County from November, including speeding and reckless driving. He was cited for driving 107 mph in a 65 mph zone, public records show.

Bouknight also has charges pending from at least two other times he was stopped in Mecklenburg County, according to court records.

Last Wednesday, according to court records, he was ticketed for driving 92 in a 50 mph zone, cited for both speeding and reckless driving. And he was ticketed in February for reckless driving. In both cases, his court date is set for December, records show. And a Mecklenburg County district attorney spokesperson confirmed Monday that a charge from November is also pending against Bouknight, involving a speeding offense of driving 84 mph in a 35 mph zone. In that instance, his case was one of close to 16,000 in Mecklenburg mistakenly dismissed by an error with the state’s record-keeping system but has since been reinstated, the official said.

The first thing that sprang to mind for me was the 1993 Dennis Rodman situation where he was found passed out with a rifle on his lap and one sock off (presumably to use a toe to pull the trigger on the rifle) in the parking lot of the Palace at Auburn Hills.

In Rodman's case it looked more obviously like a suicide attempt that he, fortunately, wasn't able to go through with, but I wonder about Bouk's mental state as well. The kid appears to be miserable practically all the time and his career is surely not going as he planned. Does he have a support system in his life to help him deal with that stress and disappointment?

Between Bouks reckless driving and lamelo speeding through stoplights and reports of him driving his Lamborghini hundred miles an hour all over the city I feel like the team needs to reach out to David Wesley and Bobby Phills' wife and have them give a speech to these youngsters about the dangers of driving like a f****** lunatic.

I don't want the next bad news we receive to be about one of these youngsters wrapping their car around a telephone pole or worse, but that's where we are headed it seems.

Buzz City, the most appropriate name for the team. With uniforms the same color as miles' purple drank.
