I want Kai to reach his potential SO GOD DAMN BADLY.

Lol.

He's certainly saying al of the right things, and put in 100% of the work that was required of him throughout his rookie year. He's got a big opportunity this year. Can't wait to watch SL!

given how this offseason has gone, I'm fully expecting him to get suspended 20 games for PEDs or some ****

Don't think I've wanted one of our prospects to work out so badly since MKG

Does anyone even know what him working out looks like? Being completely honest I always viewed him as a stretch 5, rim runner combo. Seems like that is less likely with Mark Williams now potentially taking those minutes.

I just don't really see Kai as a high upside guy at the 4 as things stand now, I am basically hoping for Jared Vanderbilt but a better shooter.

I wonder if PJ can play some 3 so we can see some PJ-Kai-Williams lineups

Can he play defense though. Tools are there. Showed flashes in g league. That will make or break him.

And my flashes I mean blocked the hell out of everything. It's the switching off pick and rolls. Stuff like that

The only thing that will determine if Kai makes it or not is his defensive IQ.

Physically, he is a freakish athlete.
Offensively, he can do a bit of everything, even if he is raw.
Good if not great work ethic and character.

Defense is what it's about with him.

he has actually posted a lot of his workouts to social media. the parts he's posted have been largely a kind of dribble drive and post-up decision tree. so dribble left, if the defender does this, do this, if the defender does that, do that. dribble right, if the defender does this, do this, etc. same with post up moves. drilling drilling drilling. it's very encouraging, but now he has to put it into action against competitors instead of skills coaches.

for me the next frontier is getting his feet right on his jumpshot. if he can get that repetitive and consistent then he's a 20ppg player imo.

I of course am rooting for the kid, but I also am a bit worried he thinks he is Giannis. Can he make outside shots? Yes, but doesn't mean he needs to be shooting them off the dribble or taking fadeaway midrange shots. I need to see what he looks like in summer league before I start to jump on the hype train.

Its great he can do a bit of everything, but if he does everything below average still it doesn't really help. I need to see how he realistically can impact a game other than a few blocks and putbacks.

Just trying to be realistic. He has played over 6 mins in an NBA game 1 time, don't think we need to be pretending he is all of sudden ready to play a position he has never played let alone start trying to make comparisons to the best player in the league and a guy who is a unicorn.

I don't want to be the fan base trying to sell Malachi Flynn as the next Damian Lillard or Mitchell Robinson as prime Dwight Howard.

People are going to think whatever they think regardless of how many times you repeat your opinion.

Kai is unknown - he is super young and literally no one knows what he is or can be. I get you want to pump the brakes, but again we all know your opinion now.

Did you quote all that just to remind us that you already beat a dead horse on that opinion before?

Nah just a reminder that comparing a guy that averages 0.5 ppg should probably not be compared to Giannis or be projected to play a position he never has played because of a video of him making 3 three pointers in a row.

Was that somehow done in the quote? Real confused about whatever you're trying to accomplish here, I've never compared him to Giannis or really made any argument about his proper position.

More so a board theme in general, not just calling you out. You just seemed to have the biggest issue with me saying he was a center, so couldn't leave you out.

You clearly said you thought you he could play the 3, which is why I quoted you. So you did make an argument about his position.

This is how sports forums work, sometimes your takes get brought back up and that is okay.

I had no issue with your opinion, just had an issue with you beating a dead horse. Yet here we are again.
