http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=A ... nnba031511not that it will change anything, but in my opinion more voices like this need to speak up.
my feelings on stern are conflicted. on one hand i hear the stories of the days of the nba in the late 70s, early 80s when the nba was a drug ridden league, with empty arenas and a horrible tv deal that resulting in tape delay finals games. stern came in an returned the nba to the popularity enjoyed in the 60s and then far beyond leading the nba to its most prosperous era from mid 80s to mid 90s. expanding the league and helping establish the nba internationally. would all this have happened without stern? i dont know.
on the other hand, he is the same commissioner who has backed scumbag owners like sterling and shinn and allowed many franchises to leave great fanbases behind. the same man who has dealt with constant rumors of a league that has fixed the lottery for big market teams, fixed playoff games to ensure the highest possible ratings, fixed finals games to spite owners who dared to challenge him, promoted players over teams, allowing a lockout that resulted in a partial season and created a league of fear as wojo describes.
maybe its time to thank stern for getting the nba to this point but to ask him to step aside in favor of a commissioner, who at least "appears" to more integrity. and one who makes more decisions to appeal to the fans of the game rather than the owners.
