It's tough to acknowledge that whatever I'll do in this life, I'll never be as cool as Herbie Hancock and Grandmixer DXT

A friend of mine that's a diehard Kendrick fan said he didn't like the album that much. I haven't listened to it yet but I'll get around to it some time

couldn't find the very board-fitting Herbie Hancock - Hornets (from the album "Sextant") on youtube, so I'll just post the next track I listened to.

another PETE ROCK REEEMIX

The chorus for this song gets stuck in my head every time I listen to it.

I saw Herbie Hancock and the original HeadHunters band live. It was AMAZING. One of the top 5 greatest jazz fusion albums ever is the Headhunters album.

Check out this track (if you don't want to listen to whole song, then start at Herbie's piano solo at 5:20 mark - ridiculous solo w/ drummer laying down a sick latin/samba beat under). If playing musical instruments was an Olympic sport, these guys would have won gold medals back in 1974 (with Frank Zappa's band getting the silver medal and the Chick Corea's Return to Forever band getting bronze)

Also cool cover of Watermelon Man on this album

is it just me or have we already talked about this album back in the day on the OT thread? I absolutely love it, by the way.

Pretty sure this is MKG's "What Are You Listening to Now?" every time he sees somebody from the front office.

something I was thinking about the other day. What are some of your all-time favorite song Intros? What are those songs that just have an awesome opening first 30 seconds to 60 seconds? Maybe even the rest of the song is Meh, but the into to the song is so awesome you still love the song.

Here are some of my favorite song intros

Bloody Well Right - Supertramp... My favorite Intro Ever. Oddly enough, I can't find the studio version on YouTube. Here is a live version.

Angry Young Man - Billy Joel... Pretty awesome intro.

Going Back to My Roots - Richie Havens... fairly obscure 70s tune, super cool intro as each instrument comes in one at a time.

Lowdown - Boz Scaggs... a short intro, but such a sweet drum beat and bassline to start

Money - Pink Floyd... although I am not a die hard Floyd fan, hard to ignore the brilliance of this opening.

Up From the Sea It Arose and Ate Rio In One Swift Bite - George Duke... crazy Brazilian Jazz tune.

I Couldnt Stand the Weather - Stevie Ray Vaughn... nasty

Nineteen Hundred Eighty Five - Wings... more 70s goodness

Dont Take Me Alive - Steely Dan... no list would be complete without some Steely Dan. Starts with a minute long guitar solo

They Are Night Zombies - Sufjan Stevens... Intro builds into a cool groove

Shock Body - Talib Kweli... such a cool intro, unique

Anyway... I could go on for days, but I'll stop. I probably already broke the page posting so many vids in one post. I'd love to hear some awesome intros that you guys like.

my favourites are of course Metallica.

Although Blackened can't really be played live as, its actually being played backwards.

I don't even like this song much, just like the intro .

a non metal intro that always get stuck in my head.

McCartney is just a frickin genius. It's amazing hearing his interviews and he just sounds like a dorky man who loves music.
absolutely no attitude or arrogance.

Band on the Run is another McCartney/Wings tune that has an awesome into, even though its slow - the intro is almost like a different song compared to the rest. Same goes for Uncle Albert Admiral Halsey.

I absolutely love this Wings song, rather obscure, but awesome.
