I went to Southern Durham H/S right across town. Game got serious, PJ wasn't even really involving himself and it was real obvious that guys were trying to make a name for himself off of him. He should've just left or not even joined in. Durham ain't exactly the nicest town in Carolina.

sounds like you have some insight

I can't say who swung first obviously - but it was clear to more than a just a few people in the crowd that PJ came to just shoot around, shake hands, all that good stuff when the game got WAY more physical than it should've been.

A lot of people have had issues in Durham though. David Garrard wouldn't come back, David Noel (a guy I used to work out with) won't even do charity work out there, Felton went to a couple of our basketball tournaments and never showed up again, McCants gets robbed in the mall.... its a crappy city.

Be careful with your jokes. I'm looking for them.

Funnily enough, pleading guilty is an admission of guilt.

In regards to the bolded, are you upset that I asked you not to make jokes about a situation where a male assaulted a female by throwing her down the stairs?

If so, grow up.

I'm not upset. I just feel singled out about something that's nothing as if I'm some kinda idiotic insensitive jerk. Domestic violence is he say she say so I don't have no problem joking about it as long as nobody got seriously hurt and I don't know the ramnifications. I'm not gonna call Lance a women beater if I don't know for sure if he hit a woman. That's where the hypocrite part of it all come in.

You're not being singled out.

You made the joke and it is inappropriate on so many levels, I'm sure that only Lance and his baby mama know the full details regardless.

I just (kindly) asked you not to repeat such jokes as domestic violence is a huge issue, which many face, and referring to the vicim as "dem hoes" is just way too far.

I seriously doubt this will be his last altercation before the season start. He's too close to his flunkie friends and people that know him like a celebrity.

Either way its a late first round pick. Wouldn't be anything devastating

It's devastating because 1st rounders are guaranteed contracts.

Actually this isn't exactly true. If we don't ink him to a contract we aren't obligated to pay him a dime, and he hasn't signed yet.

Hopefully the silver lining in this is we learn our lesson about adding players with character issues. If this keeps us from signing Stephenson it's probably worth losing the pick. As for PJ I hope we just go ahead and trade this clown's draft rights. We don't need to deal with this kind of BS in our locker room.

Yea I know. If we don't ink him that's the most devastating part because HE'LL BE A WASTED 1ST ROUND PICK. Lol. Why am I the only person getting that? It's rhetorical but I don't know.

At the end of the first round so it isn't a killer. Spending $10 million on Lance and having this happen or spending a top 10 pick would be devastating. This is just a bad situation but won't set us back as a franchise.

We better not sign Lance nor Hayward to 10M. As much as we kept that 1st rounder in our pocket as a asset Hairston better be on that floor if he's not physically injured or I'm upset. It might have been a late 1st but this was a deep draft. Stokes and Slo Mo were available and they're both gonna be good rotational players.

Slo Mo is going to be damn good and would have been the perfect McJesus replacement.

Can't have 500 PF's though, so oh well.

It's funny to read posters try to act like a late 1st rounder is just a mere pick now after I went all season in trade talks reading about it seeming like the closest thing to pure gold and untradeable

it isn't devastating because we haven't signed him to a contract yet and we can always just assign his ass to the d-league until he realizes the NBA is for grownups. we'll get a shooting guard better than him this FA in any event

Stokes and Slo Mo.

How many young PFs do we need? Vonleh and Zeller already here and then take one of them.

This will blow over. No charges were made, just a kid looking for publicity. Some of you are overreacting big time by saying "don't sign him" and "wasted pick"

I guarantee this will all be forgotten if Hairston goes for 30 in a summer league game

No way were not signing PJ to his contract. Cho knew damn well the risk with PJ but absolutely loved him.

Oh man, that still hurts. If the whole Hayward S&T thing doesn't work out, perhaps we can still figure out something for Hood.

yeah we could let it blow over, but do we really want a guy in our locker room that punches someone over a pick up game? He might drop 30 in a summer league game but it is only a matter of time before he needs to make some more mistakes. We would be better off cutting our loses now and it would give PJ a chance to learn something about life.

I could see us using this as leverage to sign him at only 80% of his scale amount, doesn't happen often but we can do it.
