If you vote for the LGBT laws you apparently do support discrimination against those with traditional values. That is why LGBT want this passed, so they can continue their crusade of suing everything that has to do with Christianity.

Hyperbole much? "LGBT" is not some single monolithic entity, and I dare say that many evangelical Christians say less than flattering things about homosexuals.

They should make a south park episode about this. Lots of hypocrisy happening and people/businesses blinded by their own ego.
The Charlotte Hornets will win their first round series against the Boston Celtics in the 2021 Playoffs

What do you call firing a Catholic from Macy's over transgender bathroom policy he wasn't even informed of. Or fining a bakery $135,000 and putting a gag order against them for not baking a gay wedding cake? Or fining a New Mexico photographer $6,000 for not photographing a lesbian ceremony? A Christian group who helped the poor for 31 years in Florida was told they could not unless they removed all religious references. A Colorado baker has had jail time for refusing to bake a gay wedding cake. An Air Force marital faced a court martial for opposing gay marriage. Was told if he public said he didn't believe in gay marriage he violated Air Force policy and would be fired. Do you want a list of many other instances against Christianity? I haven't even gotten to the college campus discrimination against Christians. Nearly 50% of Americans say now that discrimination against Christians has now become as big as discrimination against any other group.

Politically, LGBT is basically a single monolithic entity. The LGBT activists are radicals who look down on moderate LGBT. There is great pressure to get with the program. You either accept all the LGBT agenda or you are ostracized. Look at what happened when Ted Cruz met with two gay hotel owners about Israel. Gays boycotted them and condemned them.

I dont think the LBGT people are trying to discriminate against religious people, a lot of LGBT people are religious.

LMAO at the most popular religious sect in America being discriminated just as much as any group of people in the US. Next you're gonna tell me that white, adult, straight, land owning males have it just as worse as everyone else.

Putting on my mod hat for a second - we're not going to turn this thread into an open forum on gay rights issues for those that don't regularly post on our board.

I think people that frequent our board should feel free to post their thoughts on HB2 and the related issues affecting Charlotte and leading to the game being moved as long as it's done respectfully.

If you are not a regular and you come in this thread looking to get into a fight about LGBT issues, you're going to have a short stay.

I think some may have already mentioned this briefly in one of this 20 something pages of discussion. The scope of the law is way broader than just who can piss where.

The stupidity of the whole matter is that the sole focus got put on which toilet should transgender folks use, which majority of people often fall into this trap of the politicians, media and extremists (far lefts or rights, plus the religious nuts).

They make you concentrate on the stuff that really rallies people up on either extreme ends to accomplish certain agendas.

If you look closer at the law (I'm sure yosemiteben can explain better), it affects almost everyone at certain stage, not just LGBT. The politicians probably didn't care, I'm guessing their main goal was to try to diminish the uprising of the LGBT agenda, I don't believe they even care who can piss where. So they make the law broad enough to make sure to get what they want. And they use the excuse of "think about the children". Like many had mentioned, it has never really been a problem for so long.

Refs:
1. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/politics-government/article68401147.html
2. http://wncn.com/2016/04/01/nc-woman-suing-for-age-discrimination-gets-caught-up-in-hb2-bill-fallout

From the first url, it asks "Does HB2 affect rights of people who aren’t gay or transgender?" and answers "Yes. The law limits how people pursue claims of discrimination because of race, religion, color, national origin, biological sex or handicap in state courts. The law also means a city or county cannot set a minimum wage standard for private employers."

So it actually affects the religious nuts who adamantly pushing for this, it affects any race (including white) discrimination, it affects age discrimination. It really has a very broad impact. People, as often, don't really know what they are pushing for (both sides). Even NBA, they mostly just focus on LGBT part of the law.

The second url is an example of the broad effect of the law that has NOTHING to do with LGBT matter.

It's what this world has turned into, no one would like to compromise/respect, and just wants it my way only.

Thus, in this instance, Charlotte became the collateral damage, pretty much for nothing.

Wonder if we would ever get to the Star Trek type of world in the future...

Oh well enough said.

Aldridge knows how to write. I actually had to look up "fulminate" which means to complain loudly or angrily.

The article touched on a broad range of interested parties: the league, Hornets, small business in Charlotte. It even included Felix Sabates's fulmination.

But one thing Aldridge failed to do was include quotes or comments from the NC Legislature or the Governor's office in his piece. Perhaps Aldridge felt the article needed to stay focused on the business impact to the Hornets and Charlotte.

Anyway, I was glad Aldridge clarified an item I had questions about:

"Because the Hornets are a lessee at Time Warner Cable Arena, they can make the rules in their building. The team's policy for several years has been that anyone can use any bathroom they like in the arena. In addition, there are family bathrooms on every floor of the building."

Thanks for the link.

I can't speak for the China part, but the first thing you said about the law being "no different" now is simply not true. I encourage you to read the law itself for specifics.

Our governor thinks the state losing millions to potentially billions of dollar is something to joke about.
