That's a big, big contract, but probably worth it if we can offload Thomas. Lee's a 20/10 guy who would be a great fit next to Biz. The drop from 2 to 7 is worth it IMO. I think Golden State does it for the cap relief. Great building block for us too. If GS doesn't like it, I might even throw in our second rounder.

Take Rivers and leverage the pick over the teams that want him (like Phoenix). Or, Terrence Jones. He's a better DJ White. Nothing to write home about but I could live with that at #7. Possibly Lamb or surprise everyone with a guy like Royce White.

i'd probably choose between rivers and lamb. rivers would be my first choice and hope that with maggette, hendo and maybe synder here that he wouldnt act like such a diva and cry about coming to charlotte. it would be a duke family reunion. would settle for lamb provided he could prove he has an IQ higher than 75 in an interview.

Moultrie would be a nice fit with Biz. (See my post in the mock draft thread to see what I think about him). Lamb, Harkless (yes I know that's a stretch), Rivers, Leonard, Lillard are all good picks. Might even trade down to 12 and get Royce. Lots and lots of options there.

I would do Lee + 7 for 2 + Tyrus. I know Lee has a big deal, 15 million for what he gives isn't outrageous. It's more than he should make, but not crazy talk. Plus I love the fit of him next to Biz. He's a little old at 29 for our rebuild, but if you make a deal like that for Lee then you figure in 2 years were competitive again. I wouldn't mind it. You would have your front court squared away, that's for sure.
At 7 I agree with either Rivers or Lamb. If there were any players outside of the top 6 that I think could be a star it would be either Rivers or Lamb. Of those I think Rivers has a bit more of a killer instinct on offense, so I would probably go Rivers over Lamb.
The drop off from 6-7 is significant though and I really don't see any scenario where it wouldn't be significant.

Sullinger would be awesome for us IMO.
That said, not if we already had Lee.
If we could leave Draft night with one of the following combo's I would consider is a slam dunk.
Beal and Drummond
Lamb and Sullinger
Robinson and Miller
B B M F 'ers

I think one of Rob, MKG, Beal, Drum, and Barnes will be there at 7. As long Drummond is off the board at 6 I think Portland will go Lillard.
I'd be happy with leaving the draft with Barnes/MKG (assume one of them is who falls), Lee, #31 and shedding TT and Carrol.
Kemba/#31
Hendo, Williams
Barnes/MKG, Maggette
Lee, Mullens
Biyombo, Mullens
Not a bad young team right there.

HELL NO. David Lee is a team killer in the paint with his no defense. There's a reason why your team stunk on defense with a defensive coach and part of it is because HE PLAYS NO DEFENSE.
I'd rather release Tyrus outright than be saddled with David Lee's no defense and bad contract.

Re: Trading the #2 pick - dicussion (merged)
Averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds a game has to soften the blow of Lee's bad defense some. Also there was no real defender anywhere in that Golden State frontcourt. They were starting Biedrins and Jeremy Tyler there after they traded Udoh. With Biz, we won't get eaten on D the way the Warriors did.
In short, Lee sucks on D, but makes up for it on the glass and on offense. He'd probably look like an All-Star with the lack of scoring options on this team.

What does David Lee do in BIG games?
Oh right, he hasn't played in any big games during his NBA career because every team he's been on is terrible. I don't count 20 and 10 in 82 games of garbage time anything to wrote home about. Lead your team to WINS. WIN GAMES! Play WINNING basketball.
As for BIz, he is still a long way from becoming a good defensive player. Pairing him with Lee is a HUGE recipe for defensive disaster.

Re: Trading the #2 pick - dicussion (merged)
I would never suggest that David Lee is the "answer" to this team's issues, but he would be a very servicable veteran starter for 2 years while the rebuild continues. In the earlier trade scenario (Lee +7 for Tyrus and #2) how could anyone say no to that?? Lee is a FAR better player than Tyrus, would give us post offense and rebounding despite his defensive shortcomings. With the 7th pick (presuming the majority of those predictably mentioned earlier are gone) I would take a real shot at a future star and draft Perry Jones the 3rd. I believe PJ3 could become the breakout sleeper from this draft. He has great athleticism and a quality skill set. He needs time and coaching to become great, but I would welcome the chance to add him at 7. He will be a matchup nightmare at SF.
PG - Kemba
SG - Henderson
SF - PJ3
PF - Lee
C - Biz

I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Re: Trading the #2 pick - dicussion (merged)
battery, i get your point. lee isnt a good defender and has never been on a winning team. however, is it fair to say that lee has never had another good defensive big man next to him? and is it fair to say he has never been on a team that should have made the playoffs, but didnt?
i think if you stuck lee next to a good defensive big man, especially a shot blocker, he would be fine (biedrens doesnt count). i am interested to see how he does playing next to bogut. people said the same stuff about boozer. once he was next to noah (and deng), boozers bad defense didnt kill the team. in fact they were best defensive team this year, in spite of boozer.
i still wouldnt do the deal though.

Lee is not just a bad defender, he is a HORRIFIC defender. That is why GS wants to dump him ASAP.
Bulls fans wants to dump Boozer ASAP.
Biz is not a good defensive player right now. Why would you say this? Just because he blocks a few shots? Okafor blocks shots, but opposing teams gleefully prance right around his soft ass on the way to the hoop all the time. Why? Because he plays off to the side and always goes for the shot block, instead of getting in front of his man, or the man charging down the lane. Biz is just too slow in his reaction times on defense right now, and with Lee next to him, that's a recipe for serious disaster.
You see the teams that win games, their interior players take charges ALL THE TIME. Get in front of your man. HUGE problem with David Lee. He plays off to the side. Lane opens up. 20 and 10 means jack sh*t when you're giving up 40 and 20.
Also, why would you want David Lee's soft veteran ass teaching Biz? How does that help Biz in practice? I want mean and nasty players under the hoop, especially veterans who are going to toughen up our youngsters.
David Lee? Hell no. You can't win with him. Perhaps if you had Wade and Lebron on your team, but we don't so there's no point in giving up a #2 pick for a defensively challenged stiff who is not someone you can build around. What's the point? Can't win with a player like that in the playoffs. Plus, they aren't good veterans to have to show the youngsters how mean and nasty you need to be on defense in order to WIN games.

I don't think Sullinger is a great prospect. He could be but whatever, he's kinda small and kinda slow and not real strong and I can jump higher than him.
