He was terrific tonight. Looks like we will be sitting nicely come the draft. Maybe Shabazz or McLemore, or one of the two Big Men in Noel or Len. With our pick, we will get a needed player. Not sure what we get with the Portland pick, assuming they make the Playoffs. Looking like that pick might be in the #15 - #18 range. I need to start looking at players in that range it seems if I want to have any idea of what I am talking about.

LOL!!! I went to nbadraft.com to see who was in the range of where we might be picking with Portland's pick, and saw Austin from Baylor. Thought if we went SG with our Lottery pick, a big man night be nice witht the Portland pick. Until I saw they compared him to Ajinca!!!! Stay away!!!! RUN!!!!!

Re: 2013 NBA draft prospects chatter
I actualy like Austin. Need to see more of him though. Same with Len. I went through drafting videos on DX and it look like there are many blokes with question marks (Bennet for example doesn't get back on defense, not relly a team oriented player - won't he be a high maintenance guy?). It looks to me there is a bunch of good role players to be there in/fall to mid round,...
... so I am OK with having Portland pick this year, yeah it may have a good value next year as well but we don't have a say in this and they are unlikely to be leapfrogged by so many teams they would end up havig a top 12 pick to keep. And we can't count on them winning a top 3 pick in the lottery and with how they drafted last year, that's probably a worst case scenario.
I root for Detroit. Well, root is not a fitting word but the more they win the more desillusional they fanbase will get, the less likely they are to draft an impactful help (well, they have Dumars so that's pretty much a moot point but they may get lucky by having a no-brainer falling to them like last year). They won't make play offs (and imagine the fun fair if they would, got their hopes high and got swept in first round), there is no way we get their pick this year (barring further negotiations). Next year is tricky as many team will overplay their setbacks and try to at least semi-tank, so because of that they may get out of top 8 pick area but I still think we are not getting it in 2014 - they may actually try to avoid that, hard to tell if they are capable to realize that. So I expect and kind of prefer neraly unprotected DET pick in 2015.
2015 is also first year when it starts to be bprobably we may lose our pick to Bulls. To me it looks like the protection of DET pick was negotiated with our pick in mind so it is unlikely to send our pick sooner than we get a replacement via Detroit.

To be honest if the nba owes us a number one pick then we are at the back of the line. 14 other teams have never won the lottery before.
Unfortunately there is no two way C/F in this draft. Nerlens is almost as raw on offense as Biz. Therefore we take BPA who ever that is.

Nerlens is no way near as raw as Biz is offensively. If Nerlens was on our team today he would average about 10 points. Biz can't even shoot 50% with point blank layups.

You are aware of the fact that the univesal knock on Nerlen's game is that he has no offensive skill right? Nbadraft.net says that he often appears lost on offense.

I wouldn't be opposed to drafting Noel, pairing him with Biyombo, and pray to God that one of them develops anything resembling a 15 footer in the next 2 years.

I would take Nerlens for the same reason we took Biyombo. He has the chance to be an elite level defender. I could get used to this potential rotation for the next 10 years.

Yes and I'm also aware that Biyombo would look even more lost on offense than Noel if he played for Kentucky.

If we took Noel we would definitely be in the sweepstakes for Wiggins, Parker, or Randle, but we would almost certainly have one of the youngest and moth athletic teams in the league.

At times I am sure, but the beast that is Biyombo would come out at times as well. Like when he posted the only triple double in Nike Hoops history.

So I can't manage to get even remotely excited about any of the prospects this year...

If we go the McLemore/Muhammed route I wouldn't mind looking at Mcadoo with the Portland pick or Mason Plumlee.

I hope we stay away from McAdoo. He's a inefficient scoring big that's a defensive liability.
I wouldn't have a problem with Plumlee though. I expect for him to be solid and serviceable in the NBA but nothing more.
The possible big that intrigues me the most with that Portland pick is Rudy Gobert. He could be special.

This is actually what I am hoping for at the moment--Shabazz with our first pick, Plumlee with our second (assuming we get it).
Humble yourself.

That would be terrific for the Bobcats. But I think Plumlee will be gone before we get to pick again. Portland is doing better than I wanted them to and our pick is getting further back. They need to lose a few for us.

A thousand times this. There's no way this jumpshot settling fool can play any 4 in the NBA. He's a 3 with limited range, booooooo.
Plumlee sucks too, I'd rather have a D-leaguer like Adrien for a cheaper contract than overpay Plumlee on a rookie deal.

Get out of my head!!!
Seriously though, what he said. I've watched nearly a decade of Plumlee basketball and there's no way I'd use a first rounder on Mason. Is he a fantastic athlete and a good banger? Yes. But he isn't a dependable low post scorer so we don't add anything we need that we can't get from Yo Adrien without wasting a pick. Aim for a higher upside big like Gobert/Mitchell/Adams or add one of those fantastic combo guards that seem to be stuck in that mid round range (McCollum, Smart, or MCW)
