I really don't like adding guards and forwards to this team that can't shoot. It kills our drive-and-kick heavy offense when non-shooters like Wannamaker or Martin are out there so I'm not crazy about adding someone like McConnell or Payton. Are there any good, affordable FA PGs that can actually shoot? Kendrick Nunn (would he be any cheaper than Tae?) Lou Williams? Frank Jackson?

Seems we’ve been trying to bring Patty Mills in for the better part of a decade.

Maybe this will finally be the year?

Looking at some current and expiring PG contracts of players around the same level as Tae, where would you place Tae on this list?

Dennis Schröder at $17.5mil per year
Cory Joesph $12.5mil per year
Jordan Clarkson at $12.5mil per year
Patty Mills at $12mil per year
Dante Exum at $11mil per year
Seth Curry at $8mil per year
Tyus Jones at $8mil per year
DJ Augustin at $7mil per year
Ishmael Smith at $6mil
Avery Bradley at $5mil
Elfrid Payton at $5mil
TJ McConnell at $4mil per year
MCW at $3.5mil per year
Trey Burke at $3mil per year
Facundo Campazzo at $3mil per year

The Hornets are going to over pay for Graham and im not going to understand. We have this irrational amount of love for Tae like he is a key piece when he is really just a role player

I'm hopeful that we can have a capable backup PG for once, I'm so sick of the Brian Roberts and Brad Wanamakers
and he seems like a decent dude unlike Monk

I can't imagine too many teams are really looking at DG for a starting role, PG is so deep and he had an up and down year. He's very clearly a career backup PG and hopefully we can lock him up for that role

Bolded contracts are hilarious.

I would put Tae in the 4 - 7 million dollar range, so he'll probably get 10-16 million from us. TJ McConnel is an absolute steal at 4 million. Though tbh everyone in the 3 - 7 mill range is decent value.

How many of those $3-$7mil a year guys do you think could actually run an offense impactfully?

And how many of them could step up and hold down the starting PG position for significant stretches of time and have a positive outcome should they need to?

So if the rumors are correct, that'd mean Tae would be getting $20mil per year? Yikes!

It'd also mean we'd have Lonzo at $20mil a year for 4 years? Double yikes!!

So we'd be paying Lonzo $20mil a year to play back up PG (to LaMelo)? Triple yikes!!!

Or we are paying Lonzo $20mil a year to play back up SG (to TRo)? Quadruple yikes!!!!

Or we just wasted the #11 pick on a SG that many have pegged as our soon-to-be starting SG (Bouk)? Quintuplet yikes!!!!!

All the above seems to be some variation of "yikes!" to me.

I’m cool with this. Lonzo has basically become a 3&D wing with some PG skills

I think Tae is better than most of them offensively, but I'd be fine with Payton/Augustin/McConnel in his role last year. (Especially if I get to pay them 5-7 million vs paying Tae 10-16 million.) It's really just a value thing for me.

I wouldn't want to pay Tae $15mil per year, but I think he fits in around that $8-$10mil per year range.
