I doubt Kupchak could get something worth anything that late in the second round otherwise.

Don't we already have 2?

If there's a trend to be gleaned from Mitch's 3 drafts it's that he likes the flexibility gained by buying and selling 2nd round picks. I also find it interesting that he doesn't move *up* in the round, he just trades future picks to get his guy immediately.

Getting two 2nds to move back one spot from SGA to Miles gave them ammo to grab Devonte' at 34 (also cost a 2023 2nd). Then two years later they gave New Orleans a 2024 pick to grab Nick Richards. And both of those future picks they've already recouped (Thanks Ainge!).

So if there's someone he likes, we've seen Mitch is not afraid to go get him.

After the top 6 (I’m including Barnes as the sixth guy) I’m having a very difficult time differentiating prospects like 7-20. I already have a list of like 10 guys that would reasonably make sense for Charlotte to draft at 11. I’m sure the predraft process will separate them some, but this is shaping up to be a year where I might just be content regardless of which direction they go.

I feel similar. I am at the point where if OKC sees someone they want badly at 11 I would try to trade their two for our one to get multiple bites at the apple.

Yes two late seconds (57 56). But there are prospects who will be gone by then.

The idea behind is trade one of them + cash for a better 2nd

Aaron Henry out of Michigan State seems like a player Mitch would target in the 2nd. He isn't a shooter, but he can defend and pass. He can also put the ball on the floor a bit, so he has some skills to work with.

I assumed all along that OKC would use their dozens of first rd picks to make a godfather offer to whoever got #1 this year (now we know it’s DET) in order to capture Cade Cunningham

How's that early 2nd coming, Mitch?

While Onu’s path to the pros has been unorthodox, the pathway for him to sticking in the league is pretty simple. He has legit size for a center, shot 40% from three on 130 attempts as a senior and averaged 16.9 points, eight rebounds and 4.5 blocks in 33 games. Granted, this was playing at the NAIA level, where he was an All-America at Shawnee State in Ohio and led his team to a national championship last season.

During a workout at a team’s facility this month, Onu measured at 6' 10" barefoot with a massive 7' 8" wingspan, metrics that will play up at any level of basketball.

Hey guys, I hope everyone is BLESSED and well. It has been a while.

Great to see many of the players I liked doing well in
Ayo Dosunmu, Tre Mann, Moses Moody, Bouknight, Trey Murphy III, Kai Jones, to name a few... ok a lot, lol.

I haven't paid much attention to the draft and pretty much went on perminent vacation and then got the weirdest urge
this morning that came from JERICHO SIMS.

I think we should trade back and select Jericho Sims. We can even call his thread

The Walls of Jericho Sims Thread (lol)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So many players I like in this draft but if I had to narrow the pick it is

Pick 11 - trade back and pick up a future 1st and use that pick on a CENTER
Jericho Sims, Sandro Mamukelashvili

Pick 57 - COMBO GUARDS
David Duke, Josh Primo

Pick 58 - SF's
Johnny Juzang, Vrenz Bleijenbergh

Summer League invites -
PG - Jaquorie Mcglaughin, Jason Preston / SG - MaCio Teague / PF - Chris Smith / C - Ikey Obiagu

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ball / Primo
Rozier / Duke
Hayward / Juzang
Bridges / McDaniels
Sims / PJ

Plus future 1st rounder.

Let Monk and Graham walk (if we can't resign them to a near minimum)

I also think the best player in this draft might be Jared Butler.

JOSH PRIMO is the TRUTH. I think he has the ability to be an allstar. He might be there late 2nd for us.

Here are some vids on the guys that I mentioned who I think we should draft

Jericho Sims - He is a great athlete, solid defender and can get his own shot. Not sure about his jumper. Towards the END is where they show him getting his own shot.
;t=530s

Sandro Mamukelashvili - He can play all five positions but could be a liability defensively.
(The HORNETS had him in for a workout this season)

Vrenz Bleijenbergh - He is sort-of a 6'10 point forward
;t=78s

Jaquorie Mcglaughin - This guy would be GREAT if we were to lose Graham. Has potential to be a star. He might be my FAVORITE
player in this years draft.
(the HORNETS had him in for a workout with Sandro this season so do not be surprised if either is the pick)

Johnny Juzang is another SOLID player who I love along with MaCio Teague. I have posted them in the past so didn't this time.
I also think we should consider Jeramiah Robinson Earl for Center.

Not sure but I heard he did well at the combine along with AJ Lawson who is another player I like. Sims has always
had some potential imo. I saw a couple of games and came away with mixed feelings. I question his b ball iq.
I think it would be good if we traded back and picked up maybe even 2 future 1st or a future 1st and 2nd and grab him late first round.

https://hookemheadlines.com/2021/06/26/texas-basketball-jericho-sims-seeing-his-draft-stock-rise-quickly/

Other players I like that are sleepers that could be available late are

-----
POINT GUARD -

Nah’Shon Hyland, Daishen Nix, David Johnson, Austin Reaves, Duane Washington Jr.,

-----
SHOOTING GUARD -

MaCio Teague, Aj Lawson, Quentin Grimes, John Petty,

-----
SMALL FORWARD -

Aaron Henry, Emitt Mathews JR,

-----
POWER FORWARD -

Trendon Watford, Troy Baxter JR, Amar Sylla,

-----
CENTER -

Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, Charles Bassey, ike obiagu

Jericho Sims is a great athlete. I think he would be great down low getting alley oops from Lamelo along with Miles.

The name of his thread could be

BrEaKiN - The WALLS Of JERICHO sims Thread

LaMello
Rozier
Hayward
Miles
Sims

could be a good quick lineup. and I am sure we can get a team to throw in a first rounder or more to get him.
He would fit right in with the HORNETS.

----------------------------
I read he recorded the 2nd highest vertical jump ever at the combine

His floor seems Theo Ratliff.

Brooklyn’s Claxton is probably a better comparison, would be a good athletic big. We would have to ditch one of our other bigs, but Richards didn’t show me anything anyhow
