Re: Around the NBA 13
ESPN is always weird with their handling of injured players on this list. Like they'll put LaMelo 30-40 spots lower than his healthy play would be at, but they'll still have no problems ranking Tatum 5th or whatever despite him definitely playing zero games this upcoming season.

Sexton also possibly works contract wise if they need a guard with ball handling and scoring.
No way they trade for Melo, cause even if Jeffie was tempted (he’s not) we’d have to receive Sengun in that deal. Sexton is too woven into this year’s plan also…don’t see him as an option.
Would they deal for Tre Mann? Not that I’d want to ship him out, but would be open to it for a legit C or PF. But they really don’t have anyone in those slots I’d like other than Jabari (he’s locked in with his big extension) or Al Sengun. Capela isn’t eligible to be dealt yet (not sure). Spencer would be a realistic trade to them, but for what?
Trade one of our guards for Eason!

In addition to this clip. Williams says he's been more focused this off season, paraphrasing that getting traded is a bit of a wake up call Be more motivated during the offseason. In a different clip the sun's front office talk about how much gains Mark has made in his lower body strength since July.

Re: Around the NBA 13
An age old question; how to motivate the under motivated? If Mark Williams wasn’t putting in the amount of effort, time and investment into his training (and he was not), can anyone get to him other than himself? Williams says the trade was a wake-up call.
What’s it going to take for these guys to get devoted to the weight room other than being shipped out? And will that even last?
This is a real question for many players, including LaMelo. To maximize ability, health and production in today’s NBA physical training is imperative. Skills alone will only get you so far. Durability is required in a long demanding season. Some are finally trying this as an alternative to just having fun and keeping their shooting up with some hooping. Zion Williamson showed up in great shape, cut, and ready for playing some serious ball.
Will some other problematic Hornets players come to camp with notable improvement and investment in their bodies?

I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Re: Around the NBA 13
I don't think Mark needed a "wake up call", he needed a healthy offseason

I thought Houston should have looked after FVVs injury.

Re: Around the NBA 13
Watching them struggle to try to figure out who was on the roster is pretty embarrassing. And I'm not sure what roster he looks up to reference that one of the Martin twins is still on the team. You get paid to cover basketball. Just do the bare minimum and know who was on each roster, especially before you decide to do a segment on them.

Re: Around the NBA 13
yeah their facts are all sorts of wrong but I kinda agree with Simmons here that we might be just good enough compared to the other dog **** Eastern teams to rack up some wins despite the laughable holes on the roster. I think low-30s gets you the 10 seed.
We don't get there playing Mason Plumlee though. Moose and Kalkbrenner have to prove they're better talents, period.

It's like he came to the correct conclusion but for all the wrong reasons. We all know the only reason simmons thinks the Hornets will be halfway decent this year is because of his obsession with Kon. I mean absolutely I think we should beat thee over on our win total unless half the team goes out with serious injuries again. We would have Easily won 27 games last year had Miller and Melo played. On paper, the talent on this team is much closer to a 35 win team than a 20 win team.

Re: Around the NBA 13
Simmons love Kon so much, that's the only reason he's betting the over.
It would be just like the Hornets to come out and win 42 games in a bad East year, while the Celtics Pacers and Heat get franchise players at the top of the draft, and then be back in the cellar for the next 10 years as a result, like the Kings
