Not all dislocations are the same. Prayerfully this is a one time event.

I really hope MKG makes a huge leap forward this year.

if he has surgery as a result we're in deep trouble, if not then it's probably 2-4 weeks

Further demonstrates how much I don't want him to play any PF

Well on a more positive note,

Did anyone see that 3pter MKG took early in the game? (I think it was in the 1st, like real early)

It didn't go it, but it hit rim.
With anyone else this wouldn't even be worth mentioning, but I like that MKG has the confidence to shoot the 3.

This might not be a popular opinion, but I'd rather us be extra cautious with MKG and get that shoulder fully healed/strengthened before he sees the court again even if it means missing a couple of months when we could possibly push him back sooner. Our early schedule is brutal and we're probably going to come out of the first quarter of the season with a poor record regardless, might as well take the long view and ensure that our most important player doesn't end up with something that hampers him over the entire year.

I think we're typically very careful with him. I also don't think he plays through pain very often. Can't remember the last time he got injured and didn't miss like 2+ weeks.

That's true, I guess I'm just a little more concerned about it now because it seems like everyone in the organization is intent on going all-in this year. Maybe the pressure won't be too bad early on, but a year when the coach/GM might lose their jobs after a 30-win campaign is generally the type of situation where guys get pushed back out there before they're ready.

I've been happy with our patience with all our injured players over the past couple of years, it sucks to have them out but patience is always the best policy with that sort of thing. Unless you're in the Finals or something the risk really isn't worth it. Hopefully we make the logical decision even if it means some short-term pain, I think December-January is really the stretch where we can make up some ground anyway so best to hit those games with a healthy group.

Frankly I'm not sure, and nobody can be sure, how good MKG would contribute in this season. Key is, getting healthy and finding the best way to contribute in the future. This is an opportunity to have Batum and Lamb do some damage with their game. I want MKG to be his best when he returns. In the meantime, let's hope for the best.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Not only is MKG probably going to miss a chunk of games (possibly many), but this also wrecks any progress he may have made on that jumper over the summer. He won't be able to shoot on a bad right shoulder while he is out. He needed all the shooting reps he could get. When he does return to the court, his jumper is most likely going to be a mess.

Hopefully our training staff isn't as terrible as last season.

Really bad injury, couldn't be any worse timing wise. With so many new members on the team, and a changing play style of the team, missing the training camp won't be good for him.

On the other hand, I hope the team will not rush him back early, hopefully he will have enough time to completely recover, will be hard to play when not 100%.

From his point of view, it is good that he got the extension done already.......

MKG set for MRI tomorrow in Charlotte. We probably won't know much more until then. He is apparently headed to Miami to meet up with the team and fly back with them after the game.

Sad news.

I agree with those who say that we should take extra precaution with it.

You can't predict the freak accidents and other stuff that results from contact. But MKG goes hard to the floor too much to not be a big injury risk. Same type of thing with Gerald Wallace. When snow skiing, the first thing we learn to do is how to fall. Maybe MKG needs to do something like that. Something...or he's going to always be injured.

I agree with this 100%. He may be injury prone but after the game I decided he doesn't have the fall down gene. Most players intuitively break the fall and protect their bodies.
