Wow, is Lin trying to shore up his D and TOs? Bootcamping himself?

That's an interesting way to look at it. I wonder if helping to make Lin a better player was part of the Cliff sales pitch. He's improved on weaknesses every year in his quest to be a better player, as we saw in this article:

http://www.jlinportal.com/why-jeremy-lin-will-be-a-good-nba-player-whichever-team-he-lands/

I wonder if he is indeed hoping to shore up those areas by working under Cliff.

If he can tone down on his TOs and fight through screens better he'd be devoid of major flaws.

Can you get that crap outta here? It's too negative.

People's got different definition of the term racist I guess, some really broad.
MotorKeepsGoing wrote:Just saw on /r/nba that it is a player option, as I expected. Signing for two years at that price would have been stupid for Lin.

That makes a lot more sense now. I can imagine he is promised Mo + Lance role with a PnR offense, having a chance to lead the team to the playoffs. He might then get a better long contract after this year. Hornets probably the only team that offers this one year redemption option, his value is really quite low now I imagine after this crap year in LA.
MorbidHEAT wrote:My dislike for Lin started during Linsanity. It was absurd. It's probably irrational dislike at this point, but man he gets on my nerves. He's been tearing us up though.
Thanks for the honesty.

Cho loves short contracts. We will have 60+ million in cap space next offseason I believe. and 70+ million in 2017 when they try to woo Steph Curry.

Have to extend MKG, and Batum along with potentially Lin so that will take up well over half. I suspect MKG gets 14, Batum 12 or 13 if he plays like he should, and lord knows with Lin. We'll have a shot at one legit stud next year.

I want Joakim Noah. Go after him hard while everyone else is focused on Durant and Horford.

Ton of miles on that young body. Maybe if he can bounce back after a rather poor year last year

Yeah, if he looks just as bad or worse this season I'd probably stay away. That said getting another guy with French roots to sign with the team that also happens to fill a big need definitely wouldn't hurt us when it comes to retaining Batum.

We should sign Seraphin this year and just go all in on French players.

MeowsALot wrote:new member here, I am a Lin fan. at first I wasn't too excited about the Hornets, since I do not know anything about them but after reading that him and the coach seem like it better fit than his old coaches I grew optimistic. Plus, the board seems pretty friendly.

As for his reasons to join Charlotte - I think as someone said, maybe he did not want the spotlight nor the high expectations. Now he has gone from overrated to underrated. Glad he made a decision for himself and not for the money or glory.I expect and hope lin to get around 28 minutes.

My thoughts about Kemba - I thought he improved a lot last season? I know some people comment on his overall career FG but wasn't his last season pretty good? I don't follow him but I did look him up at one point.

Also, can someone give me the quick breakdown about Al? Seems to me the board generally dislikes him lol, why is that?

Look forward to watching hornets games, and also HAPPY that I don't have to stay up late to watch those atrocious laker games.

What's up? Welcome to the fam.

Kemba missed probably, what, 20 games or so last season and I think his numbers were pretty much right around his career averages. Obviously most here know that he has to improve and in my opinion this is a make or break season for him in the sense that he is now on a team that makes a little more sense from a roster-building perspective and he has at least competent shooters around him. So many times he ends up with the ball in his hands and the shot clock running out just because we are so damn stagnant. He's a decent player but I'm looking for him to elevate his game this year.

Al is sort of a mystery/wildcard to me at this point. Here's the bad - he's fatter than Aunt Jemima's even fatter sister. He didn't move well at all last year because of it and became a detriment really at both ends of the floor. His defense is honestly atrocious he hates to move his feet and often just lazily swipes at the ball. On offense we sort of built around him last year which slows down our pace and doesn't make any sense given some of our young guys (MKG, Zeller, Kemba) who would thrive in transition. He's also had trouble passing out of double teams and definitely can be a ball-stopper. Also can be a disaster in pick and roll by being a soft screen setter. Here's the good - this dude was an all-NBA level player just one season ago. He was injured last year which may have contributed to his weight and he's in a contract year so I expect him to come out "hungry". He's a guy that you can throw it to in the post and he will legitimately command a double team. Can put the biscuit in the basket there's no denying it. He's also a pretty good rebounder and from all accounts a very good teammate. Again this is a make or break season for him sort of like Kemba. If he comes out a lean, mean, fighting machine with the form of two seasons ago we are winning a playoff game - mark my words on that.

That said, it may not be a great time to be following the Hornets but its certainly an interesting time. This thing could go either way - total disaster or glorious success (we win 1 playoff game is success). Should be exciting.

Thanks for the info. I had to watch Lin on the Lakers and I'm pretty sure if I can sit through that garbage I can sit through anything, that was a super bad team to watch. I think Lin might have fun on this team.

is Kemba on his last year of his contact or no? I think signing Lin is a trial period for both Lin and Hornets. If Lin ends up revitalizing the team then they may give Lin more permanent role, if he ends up being ****, then Lin can gtfo. Good move for both sides. Thanks for the response!

^ kemba is starting a 4 year 48 million $ deal. Which I love now. Not so much before the recent deals

Seraphin sucks, Gobert on the otherhand is both French and he plays for the Jazz. Cho has the date he becomes a free agent circled on his calendar already.

Pocket Lint - The Jeremy Lin thread.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Jeremy Lin is a fine basketball player. Now that he finally has a decent coach, he will do well here. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by how hard he tries on defense. And he can take it to the rim with the best of them. (Hope you guys aren’t overwhelmed by all the new Hornets fans who follow Jeremy Lin. Things will be lively this year.)

Hi everyone, I am a Lin fan and new member from HK, I am very glad that Lin join Charlotte. If Lin can reduce his TO, work hard on his mid range shoot and his off-screen defense. I think Lin can be an decent player and cant wait to see him run the second unit with F. Kaminsky!
