Re: 2020 Off-season Discussion
So a quick pivot of focus. Even after adding Hayward and paying Batum 9 million dead money we should have 20+ million in cap space.
Zeller, Monk and Graham will be free agents. The best part of this tho......
Graham has a cap hold of just 2 million so we can sign everyone else using cap space and then resign him by going over the cap.

Re: 2020 Off-season Discussion
The last month of the season we were playing like a playoff team. We added Ball and Hayward. Plus Carey. Not sure we aren't a good bit better then we appear already.

Ball
Devonte
Hayward
PJ
Zeller
That is a decent lineup. The big question will be whether we can get anything for Zeller/Rozier to improve it more. Obviously a reliable rim protecting big would be the best improvement.
Another option is a small ball lineup of
Ball
Rozier
Devonte
Hayward
PJ

Jeff Teague to Boston now.
So with Teague and Thompson signing with Boston there goes my S&T idea of Hayward for Zeller and Terry!!

Knicks got Nerlens Noel for 5 mil. Thats the kind of bargain deal we need. I'd love to sign Baynes to with the room exception.

Maybe I’m dumb but I would rather just keep Rozier.
Seems like we could deal him for a first later.

I’m with you on this. I think Rozier has value. I don’t mind keeping him depending on our plan for the season. We should definitely get something out of him if we do trade him.
The Rozier part in that tweet is all speculation though.

Rozier has negative value on his deal. Might have some value to a contender as an expiring next year, but is still overpaid for being an undersized 2 guard.
No way we're getting a 1st for him.

Maybe not. I was thinking more for a player but that is harder. Cap space next year would be good as well if he gets moved in a S&T.

I guess we can agree to disagree on this.. dude is 26 and shot 40% from three and averaged 18 a game. Bogdanovic hasn’t done this.. is older... and is going to get paid more than this

this is so stupid...
instead of putting a long term plan to make a better team that competes with everyone, we screw ourselves for some stupid made up boston petty rivalry?
i'm starting to think this fanbase deserves this now

Re: 2020 Off-season Discussion
I guess JG is right and just getting Rozier off the books would be positive if he regresses, which is what i am expecting. I just wanted to get like a mediocre 3&D wing, or a decent 20mpg center option, on a shorter deal, just to balance out the roster.
If I'm reading our cap table correctly, if we just sent out Rozier and filled out the roster with one year deals, then we'd only have somewhere in the 60s million in committed cap space next season with Monk and Grahams cap holds and empty roster spot holds included. If Monk just sucks and we want to move on that would mean an additional 13 mil in space. We could easily add a max player and resign whoever we wanted and still not be in a bad position when the time comes to make a decision on Miles and PJ.

Rozier isn't regressing. We put him in an incredible tough situation last year. He is only 26.

Re: 2020 Off-season Discussion
Moving Rozier for cap space seems like fanfiction to me. The unfortunate truth is that we will be living with the consequences of Batum for 3 more years because MJ has absolutely no patience.

Let me ask you Rozier haters this..
What is Rozier worth? What kind of contract would you pay him if he is such a negative asset.

To be fair, I do think its possible he was calling Ainge's bluff here to get a better deal on a sign & trade, but that doesn't excuse the underlying problem, which is that we are still signing Hayward for 120 million lol. Calling him a genius because he pulled some gamesmanship to make an awful move a bit less awful is a huge stretch, though.

Just to be 1 billion percent clear: I am in no way a Terry hater. I am perfectly fine with his contract given how he played and carried himself last season.
But given our draft and bringing in Melo, the performance of Tae last season and now bringing in Hayward - not to mention wanting to really see what we have in Monk and might have in Thing #1 it makes sense to get him off our books without it costing us anything.

Re: 2020 Off-season Discussion
Would Rozier really regress with one (maybe two) competent playmaker/s coming aboard? Would the FO really want to get rid of an 18ppg C&S ace after taking on Hayward and Melo? Isn't the FO thinking "win now" (or at least compete) with those moves?
