Nike leaked the new Panthers logo then pulled it from the site.

FWIW, they had all 32 teams' pro bowl gloves and the Panthers were the only team with a new logo.

Brace yourself...

Doesn't seem bad. Don't know why teams are trying to constantly change things but it could be a lot worse.

i think i have had that same conversation about 20 times.

I've been trying to explain that to so many people, even on basketball sites. I tend to get really mad at the people using the overused "MJ sucks at managing teams" statement. Pisses me off that they can't grasp the simple fact that we were going absolutely nowhere with last year's roster.

This is one of the most awesome dunks I have ever seen in a game. What he does to Perkins here is almost criminal!

i just finished the section of the ABA book about marvin "bad news" barnes. he definitely has to take the prize as the single most uncoachable, knuckleheaded, trainwreck of a superstar in the history of basketball. i think he makes jr smith, iverson and jr rider look easy to coach by comparison.

That part of the book with the Spirits of St. Louis, including Marvin Barnes's antics, guys like Fly Williams attempting 360 dunks on the fast break and missing badly (the whole backboard if I remember correctly) and jokes by Bob Costas, might be the most entertaining pages I've ever read in a book.

BTW, have you seen my Marvin Barnes videos? I managed to make a video of him still in his prime and knocking down baskets in the ABA (he sure looks talented) and two videos with the washed-up NBA Marvin Barnes.

i'll have to check out the barnes videos.

costas definitely makes that section of the book. i am not a costas fan at all, but he does spin a nice tale, so the fact the he was around to witness that trainwreck of a franchise is great for us readers.

didnt somebody draft barnes in our draft this summer?

??

Perkins feet are in the no charge area and he moves forward into the contact when going for the block.
How is it offensive?

You can't forearm shove your opponent with your off arm - something that Griffin does a fair bit.

this part. griffin clears out big time with his left arm as he is going up.

for the record, i'm not a fan of that rule anyway. i would let the offensive player get away with more when going to the basket, but i would also probably let the defensive players get away with more contact when going for blocks. end result, you get more sweet dunks and more blocks. but as the rules are written, griffin's dunk seem like a foul to me.

I know what you mean as he rakes his arm down Kendricks face and grabs an arm, but after looking at it in slow motion, he moves his arm down after they have already collided, the dunk would have happened anyway.
Perkins still manages to keep his hand firmly in Blakes face and he was not going to get any higher.

I probably just have left it as a no call. They both sort of foul each other.

I did

I don't know why but I've always had a thing for headcases/nutcases. If I were a GM I would never want to have them on my team, yet guys like Marvin Barnes, Latrell Sprewell, Stephen Jackson, Larry Hughes etc. are so fun to watch. Not to mention there frequent and funny off-court issues.

barnes would be the MVP of the jaruff/lamar chucker-knucklehead team.
