I like Hendo, but I'm not really attched to him too much. What Fat posted is pretty much why I feel that way. It would be different if Hendo could shoot the 3 reliably ... and even more if he was a few inches taller. But he is what he is.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

the new age shane battier - by zach lowe

Gerald Henderson

The jury's out for Henderson, a free agent this summer. But if Henderson signs a deal that pays him something like $7 million or $8 million per season and elicits some Twitter guffaws, know that it will be because some GM considers him a safe bet to emerge as a solid New Age Battier. Defending bigger small forwards might be an issue, though Henderson has done it, and this was really his first season shooting 3s in anything like a high volume.

he also mentions taylor in the article

• Jeff Taylor: Toggled between both wing positions in Charlotte this season, and eventually saw his minutes dwindle. Taylor did shoot an encouraging 34 percent from deep this season, and entered the league with a reputation as a solid defender.

Although my desire to keep Hendo rose the last half of the season my expectation of keeping him is free falling.

He doesn't play like much like Battier at all, unless he's saying their similar in terms of professionalism. :notsurewhatZachLoweissmokingsmiley:

He meets the three criteria for a role Lowe named after Battier. Similarity of game style doesn't matter, it's all about defending both swingman positions well and shotting treys.

Both are tenacious defensive wings. Battier is obviously superior defensively, but Hendo's offense is far better than Battier's ever was. Battier's offense is completely limited to threes, the only thing Hendo still lacks to an extent.

Barriers offense isn't just limited to threes, its just his role with Miami. He was a fantastic all around player with the Grizzlies.

I've been saying Hendo is our Battier for years, obviously they aren't very similar as players but their toughness, leadership and willingness to do the little things are what they have in common.

That said Gerald dropped off of doing the intangibles a lot this year.

IF I interpret correctly, sounds like he may have been told that the Cats are not going to try to keep him in Charlotte. Kinda surprising, as that almost means we MUST take a SG with our 1st rather than think about Noel. Unless they think they can land a FA shooting guard who is already better than Hendo. Kinda sad I think.

Or he's just going through a bad break up.

lets not jump to conclusions. thats a very cryptic tweet. it could mean anything. i can't imagine the front office has already made a decision about hendo before hiring a new coach and before knowing where we are picking or who we are picking.

Tweet could mean a lot of things. Honestly though I don't expect him back here next year. He's a good player, but not a great one. His skillset doesn't match either Kemba or MKG very well. I hope he does well somewhere next year, I just don't expect it to be here.

I think it means he's having a sex change and going to enter the WNBA.
