Not sure if this has been discussed to death, but Charlotte should consider trading the 2nd pick overall to Sacramento in order to move Tyrus Thomas and some deadweight for Tyreke Evans.

Charlotte trades:
- Tyrus Thomas
- Desagana Diop
- No. 2 pick overall

Sacramento trades:
- Tyreke Evans
- Francisco Garcia

Charlotte new lineup:

- Goran Drajic (free agent) / DJ Augustin (QO) / Kemba Walker
- Tyreke Evans / Gerald Henderson / Matt Carroll
- Corey Maggette / Francisco Garcia / Reggie Williams
- Bizmack Biyombo / DJ White
- BJ Mullens / Aaron Gray (free agent - one year stopgap)

+ 2nd round pick rookie

Once you have that young core and you've gotten rid of the bad contracts, the team will have nothing but rookie contracts and Drajic after next season and likely a top draft choice in arguably a much stronger draft, especially for big men. Hopefully by then, Biyombo and Kemba will have developed into solid rotation players, while Evans and Maggette will provide the scoring and excitement for this season.

The only reason Sacramento considers this is to get two lottery picks in the draft. Moving up 3 spots to take on TT and Diops' contracts and trading away the best player in the deal isn't going to fly.

diop expires pretty soon, it really isn't a big deal to take his contract.

And some would argue that the #2 pick is the best player in the trade.

Fair enough. The move is really about getting Tyrus Thomas and his illiquid contract out of Charlotte while bringing in a useful young player back (Evans). I could argue the merits of leaving Diop and Garcia out of the trade while taking back Sacramento's second round pick.

Yeah but we can't just lost our pick like that. I respect Tyreke's game but we still need at least one high pick in this draft. Even if the value is technically even, it might not fit where the bobcats need to go.

It's conceivable the Kings would make a deal for expirings if they want to get long contracts off the books for a potential sale of the team but I don't see how they'd take Tyrus back if that was the case. I'm pretty sure we're stuck with that guy.

Change Tyreke for Cousins and they can have the #2 outright. Even take back Garcia and do a Tyrus/Salmons swap.

Tyreke is nice but he's not worth the #2.

I don't think they'd even trade Cousins for the #1 pick. DMC is a sure thing. If the Kings have half a brain, they trade him for nobody but a young superstar. #2 for Cousins is definitely out of the question.

^ Yeah, if I'm Sac, I'm not even entertaining Cousins for Anthony Davis. He's that damn good.

Davis is potentially a LOT better than Cousins and isn't a head case.

While this is true, it's incredibly hard to trade a 22-year-old who's proven himself to be a good player versus a 19-year-old who everyone thinks is going to be better.

That said, the agreement on Davis as can't-miss is not something that happens every year, and most of the time that level of consensus is right. Most years do have a consensus #1, but there is a difference between guys like Davis and, say, Bargnani.

Trade with Bulls?

Post#533 » by CATastrophic » Sun Jun 24, 2012 12:11 am

Despite reports that we might trade with Cleveland in exchange for 4 and 24, would we consider doing this deal with the Bulls?

http://www.iamagm.com/news/2012/06/23/b ... .exception

The Bulls would consider trading Luol Deng and/or Joakim Noah for a high draft pick and a trade exception. If I was Rich Cho, I would consider this move. We would be receiving two very good established players in the league in exchange for a player who may or may not become a star. The problem would be trying to get another team to give up their trade exception. In return, we would probably have to give up one of our players (i.e. would toronto be willing to take on Tyrus Thomas' $7.3 mil. contract in exchange for their $7.6 mil trade exception from the dealing of Leandro Barbosa?).

Thoughts?

There is no way the Bulls trade both of them. Definitely no to Deng for #2, likewise for Noah.

I like the build slowly approach.

Yeah, those guys are way overpaid for our team. Hopefully we'll have a cheaper Noah in Bismack anyway.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

I wouldn't touch that deal. Don't really care for Noah as a player and Deng is good but won't help us out.

Unless it's #2 for Derrick Rose, there's no one on that Bulls roster that interests me enough to see #2 go their way.

I'd take Deng for the #2 if the Bulls add a future unprotected 1st and take Diop.

Diop is not the problem...he's off the books next year. No thanks to any deal from the Bulls unless it involves Rose. We all know that won't happen so tell Chicago to beat it.

If the Bulls are really looking to blow it up, I say we try a three way trade with Cleveland and Chicago.

CHA: #4, #24, #29, #33, Varejao
CLE: Deng, Noah
CHI: Kemba, Tyrus, #2, future lotto-protected CLE 1st, lots of expiring deals

Cleveland would have a pretty sick core of Irving, Deng, Noah, and Thompson. We could package #24, #29, #31 #33 to move up. Chicago gets Kemba, #2, and a future CLE pick and they would get a bunch of expiring deals.

Think it's fair?

Are you insane? Kemba, Tyrus, AND a #2 for #4 and filler?
