I remember Henderson being a decent one on one defender but a terrible off ball defender.
He'd often have terrible lapses and lose his guy or sag so far off his guy that his opponent could go and be where ever he pleased because Henderson was lax and also ball watched.
He was anointed a "lock down defender" coming into the league - but I recall that being seriously over stated.
Likewise, I think that Bridges defensive ability and impact is criminally under valued on this board.

I think Bridges is going to be really good with that attitude and some targeted skill work in the off seasons. Future looks higher then Hendo who could never shoot as well as Miles already does.

He finished 7th among all non-center players in dunks.
That’s pretty impressive if you consider he only played 21 minutes a game and most the guys ahead of him are superstars.

Yes Miles has much more potential than Hendo did. Only thing Miles lacks is size and in todays game that might not be much of a detriment if at all.

The athletic did a redraft of last years draft and it went
Luka
Bagley
Young
JJJ
Ayton
Bamba
Wendell Carter
Sexton
SGA
Mitchell Robinson
Miles Bridges
Shamet
Knox
Porter Jr
So he went 11th to hornets instead of 12

According to reports out of Summer League practice, coach said he anticipates that miles will be primarily a power forward this year rather than small forward. Not sure what that means for Marvin Williams or PJ Washington in terms of playing time, or Kidd-Gilchrist. Also not sure what it means in terms of who starts at the shooting guard and small forward positions. Figure bacon will be one of those. We could go small with monk at shooting guard or we could go larger with the Tim at small forward and bacon at shooting guard.

I like it. Miles should be a 3/4 and PJ a 4/5.
Seems like Mitch and Borrego want positional versatility. All the young guys they've drafted, and now Rozier, can guard multiple positions.

I'm surprised, and honestly a bit disappointed that they see him as a 4/3 instead of a 3/4. I'd have preferred to see him on the perimeter more and develop his range.
I assume this means
Rozier
Bacon
Batum
Miles
Cody
On opening night. I would've preferred to have Marv as the vet presence in the first unit but I can rationalize Batum's passing being needed.
I also wonder if this signifies that they view PJ as a 5/4 or of they're just sliding Miles to the 4 due to needing Batum with the starters.
I still want to see a Devonte/Monk/Bacon/Miles/PJ unit get burn. At some point we'll need to see which combos of those guys are useful long term

by Great
Rozier
Bacon
Batum
Bridges
Zeller
If they could replace Zeller with a better rim protector that could catch a pass, that starting 5 is pretty balanced.
Martin, Devonte, PJ off the bench
add a SG/SF and rim protector that can catch a pass and it’s on.
Foundation laid, direction chosen.

Batum will start for sure. Coaches must see something in him in practice that doesn't translate to games, because there won't be much offense to facilitate this year, so the 0-3 FG, 0-1 3FG, 2 rebounds, 3 assists in 31 minutes games should be aplenty.
Monk really can't start, because God love him he's just such a liability on defense. I look for him to be the top scoring option on what technically has to be called a second unit though.

I was looking at basketball reference earlier. Nic was 4th in WS, 3rd in BPM, and 2nd best VORP on the team. His offense was negative, but it looks like he was having some sort of defensive impact that I never saw with my own eye test.
Miles was 6th, 7th, & 6th respectively ... so not bad, but apparently not having the same impact that Nic did.
I hate watching Nic play. Hate it. But, as expected for a rookie on a team trying to win last year, Miles has a ways to go yet.

Why would you still draft Knox over a guy lile Mikal? And why is Sexton so high?
