Maybe if she tweets this 89 more times I might believe her.

#2, James Bouknight, Kai Jones and Cody Martin for #4, Jabari Smith Jr, Alperin Sengun and Tari Eason.
The value is clearly in our favour here but if they really want Scoot this is around what they should pay IMO. Pick 4 is clearly at least a tier below picks 2 and 3. Otherwise lets just take Scoot or trade down to 3 and take Miller + small asset for moving down 1 spot.
This asking price seems like a lot for pick 2 but there is clearly going to be a bidding war from multiple teams for our pick.
I can see at least New Orleans (#14/Zion/Ingram/Daniels/Murphy/future picks, OKC (#12/Chet/Williams/Giddey/Dieng/future picks), Houston (#4/Jabari/Green/Eason/Sengun) and possibly Portland (#3/Simons) + maybe others throwing their hats into the ring.

Nah we can't trade out of the top 3.
There are 3 stars in this draft Wemby/Scoot/Miller. If we end up with none of those guys this offseason was a failure.

I think Smith is a star

Jabari Smith has no handle he's a stretch pf. Kind of hard to be a star if you can't create your own offense.
He reminds me of Rashard Lewis.

The issue is he plays C.
I'm not interested in the other Houston youth. Would be hilarious if we ended up with Eason though.

Rather have Smith, Eason and Porter. With those and Whitmore or a Thompson we have quite the young lineup to build with around Ball. Very long with a few defensive players.
Ball,Porter Jr., Eason, Smith Williams and your pick coming off the bench with Washington. That could be quite a group to grow together.

The problem is we need someone with star potential. Those guys are high end role players at best.
Miller/Scoot have legit allstar potential. I rather get a star and let him grow with Melo/Williams.

I get that. If we believe that one of them has star potential then we should pick that guy for sure. I was saying if we just thought they were going to be good but not great then take the field and hope one develops into a great player.

I don't know why people are so out on Smith when he had a godawful PG situation and could be the building block to a terrifying defensive frontline next to Mark Williams. Why isn't Smith's upside JJJ?

You just proved my point.
His skillset depends on other players. Why does he need a pg?
If he is allstar potential he should be able to get his own.
Scoot and Miller can get their own they don't need the help of a pg. There is the difference between star potential and high end role player potential.

If Smith Jr. gets to JJJ that's a star buddy. We also already have Ball so he will have an A-1 setup man and can spread the floor. Anthony Davis is a star and is limited with his ballhandling.

JJJ just won DPOTY.
What makes you think Jabari has that kind of defensive ability?
I get your thinking. That is a solid deal in fairness.NCHeels2008 wrote:JustBuzzin wrote:NCHeels2008 wrote:

6 11 with 7 2 wingspan and was covered along with Chet in the last class as the highest ceiling defenders. I'm not saying JJJ is a likely outcome but buddy has played 1 year and we know very little about Scoot or Miller as well. To me they all have some measure of star potential. Its just with your hypothetical deal we get the 4th pick, a couple of role players AND a high-leve prospect to roll the dice on.

Were we disagree is I have Scoot/Miller as way better players than any of those players in that deal. I rather get a game changer so we can really build our core. If we hit big on Scoot/Miller we just turned our franchise around overnight.

JDR720 wrote:I'm not sure I actually believe the Houston trade rumors. They've been rumored to want veterans, from Harden to Kyrie. So unless they just want a shot at a star PG regardless of age, I'm not sure why they'd go from veteran hunting to trading for a 19 year old.
And even if they are, I highly doubt they'd trade Sengun, Green or Jabari to move up just 2 spots. So I think the most plausible is Porter Jr.
