That isn't his game, he's a natural scorer like a poor man's Russell Westbrook. I bet if Kemba had Kevin Durant to pass to, he'd average 8 assists per game, probably more. He may not ever do it with this roster, but I think he'll consistently average 7. The "elite" Mike Conley averages 6 playing with two of the better big men in the league. Kemba averaged 5.7 with Bismack and BJ as his go-to big men. Assists are a HUGE product of who you play with.

Z-Bo and Marc aren't exactly DeAndre and Blake though. Different dynamic.

I'd take that bet if a psychic told me that we'd draft Jabari Parker and then sign a deadly catch-and-shoot 3 point threat too. However I wouldn't put my money on Cho doing these things.

Kemba (Walking)

Is Kemba a legit NBA player/PG ?

Tom Haberstroh (2:52 PM)

I wouldn't mind the assists if only his efficiency wasn't so bad. .399 for his career? He's got to improve his shot selection. That's Jennings territory. I would like to think he's better than that.

His shooting percentage and lack of assists is definitely in a bad territory.

These are the wrong reasons for you to be on the same list as Larry Hughes, Allen Iverson, Isaiah Rider and Latrell Sprewell.

Notice that Kemba's towards the bottom in effective field goal percentage among these guys.

Kemba need to get it together but at least he isn't in Rubio territory.

Statistically, there really isn't anyone else to compare Kemba to other than Jennings:

If you change Games Started to >= 50, you can add Jordan Crawford and Dion Waiters.

Disclaimer: No hate, just the numbers.
Humble yourself.

Eh, Jennings might be a All-Star this year. I thought the East was weak last year at PG but it might be worst this year. Right now it look like Wall is in the lead with Jennings behind him. Kyrie might make it off popularity alone despite struggling mightily. Kemba got a chance to put his name in the convo if we're still hovering around .500 come late January. That shoulder injury in the Knicks game did him no favors.

We appreciate him, it's not unappreciating him to look at him without the homer glasses on.

Great game tonight.

There do be a few uncalled for pop shots against him as if he's not the best player on the team, but "with great responsibilities, come great expectations". He's the leader of the team after all

He was looking good before World Peace declared war on his shoulder in that Knicks game. If you subtract that slump that he played thru the bruised shoulder and ribs he might be playing like the best PG in the East.

I've only seen a couple games this year, but it seems that this offensive system is designed for McRoberts to be the point forward at the top of the key. Seen a lot of hockey assists from Kemba - break down D, kick it to McRoberts, who passes to someone else for a bucket. I thought Kemba would be up over 7 apg this year with the addition of a post threat and have been a little disappointed in his production (not sure how much the early injuries threw him off his game, because he was killing Felton the day he first got hurt), but after watching a couple games, it does seem that it is partly him not picking people out well enough (especially at full speed) and partly the system Clifford has. He seems to be getting a little more comfortable lately (or more healthy - or both), so hopefully that will continue.

Until CP3 (or Rondo to a certain extent) win a championship averaging 10 assist I could care less if Kemba averages at least 8 assist. I rather see him play like Tony Parker where he's a scorer but passing is a team collective effort.

I'd be happy with 6.5ast from Kemba that is pretty average for a scoring PG but less than 5 pet game is terrible

Kemba's assist averages will & need to rise a bit, but I'm content with him playing the way he does as long as he can do it efficiently (at least 45% from the field). As of now, scoring efficiency is his biggest weakness, not distribution

The 2008 Celtics won the Finals with Rajon Rondo averaging 5.1 assist per game

The 2007 Spurs won the Finals with Tony Parker averaging 5.5 assist per game

The 2004 Pistons won the Finals with Chauncey Billups averaging 5.7 assist per game

The 2002 Lakers won the Finals with Kobe Bryant averaging 5.5 assist per game (Derek Fisher - 2.6 APG)

...and so on, so on...

Scoring & assist is a team effort. The moment a defense can focus their gameplan on a single player being the primary playmaker, that will be the moment that team's offense will struggle (i.e. Chris Paul in the postseason)

I did the math to see what Kemba has been shooting before & sans that 7-game shooting slump after the November 5th match in Madison Square Garden

Outside of that regression, he has made 103 of his 223 field goal attempts & 23 of his 3-point attempts, good for 46% from the field & 35% from beyond the arc in 14 games

In other words...
