From itunes Import from your computer into itunes.
the song will appear at the very bottom of your songs library (cuz itunes has no info on it yet).
right click on the song, convert to AAC - this is Apple format and allows all the apple functions like autoplay in a playlist.
right click on the song, click get info and manually enter artist name, etc.

I've never gotten good quality like that. I usually just record from Spotify.

Audacity has been working great for me. One trick (if you're using a laptop) is that you'll get better recording quality if you plug in headphones/speakers instead of playing through the crappy laptop speakers. I have no idea why that is, but it always works for me.

Note: I use Spotify Premium, not the free version.

as I get older I find myself listening to less new music. so I've never heard of these guys.

I'm making a Zappa Spotify playlist of all the Zappa I like. Since my love for Zappa's stuff is so hit or miss, I'm finally going to put all my faves in one massive list. The good stuff is amazing, but he has so many albums you have to weed out the crazy stuff.

First track on my playlist - Sharleena (live). No particular reason for this one to be first, just happened that way.

Edit - Ridiculous guitar solo starts at 2:45. Frank's 14 year old son takes the lead on this solo, which is just insane.
