Let's get creative. 9 + PJ for 12 + Hood.

Sound outrageous ?

Think of it this way...you're giving up 1 slot in last year's draft for 3 in this years

Now you see how scary it is to give up even 1 slot.

Jazz Fan offers trade down deal. Will pick Booker or anyone for you. What do you want?

Post#542 » by Hoops Addict » Wed Jun 17, 2015 3:05 pm

Jazz fan....coming in peace.

Rumors are that you want Booker and are willing to trade down.
http://www.nbadraft.net/players/devin-booker

The Jazz would like to trade up.

What do you want? Feel free to post your demands on the Jazz board.....what is acceptable to both parties?

We would take Booker for you, but will Miami or Indiana mess up the deal?

9 + PJ for 12 + Hood.

You give up 1 slot from last draft for 3 slots in this one.

9-12 could be the difference between Hood and PJ and just one slot can make a world of difference in talent.

This is where if you're the Jazz you have to be very careful to correctly evaluate where you are as a franchise. I think (outsider's perspective I don't watch a ton of games, have been to one live a few years ago and I had an awesome time), the Jazz are getting close to that critical point. This is the transition point where you have to properly rate yourself and try to make a leap but your timing has to be perfect. If you do it too quickly you deplete future assets, cap yourself out, and its all for naught. If you wait too long you could miss the opportunity entirely.

Trading a future first round pick to move up in the draft is the type of move that says the franchise wants to make the leap right now, and is willing to give up future assets to do it. Its very risky, and if Utah is wrong the team that they trade with can take advantage of them. I don't know how good Utah is going to be in the next 2/3 years, but they've certainly got an exciting young group of guys. Still, you never know how its going to work out and if its going to be Booker/Oubre I think Charlotte may want to take the gamble that Utah doesn't crack into the playoffs in the West and maybe we get another pick in the top half of the draft next year or the year after.

Lol, I think we would have been bottom 5 teams without Hayward. :D

Forget trading for Joe Johnson, he is not worth it at this point. We would lose a lot of production from Hendo and Big Al and being taking on a bad contract. Plus Jefferson and Hendo give this team leadership and continuity from our playoff run two years ago.

I would much rather trade for Eric Gordon at this point.

I would offer Al Jefferson for him. Expiring for Expiring and he fits perfect next to AD.

Or offer Hendo and Marvin for him. They add depth to a very weak bench and add two healthy bodies that can help them play small ball (Gentry coming from GS).

Gordon is looking for a longterm home, hence him scouring the market. If he came to Charlotte we have the cap space to offer him a decent deal if he works out this year and he adds outside shooting to our starting lineup.

Trade Hendo and Marvin (throw in Roberts too if they want) for Gordon and then draft best SG prospect at 9.

Kemba- Mo- Roberts
EG- Rookie- PJ
MKG- Barnes
Zeller- Vonleh
Jeff- Hawes

Holiday- Roberts?
Evans- Hendo
Pondexter- Marv
Davis- Anderson
Asik- Ajinca

I think it improves their overall roster and they do not have to worry about resigning him next offseason and still get two expirings back. Lots of flexibility with Hendo playing both wings, Marvin playing both forwards, and Davis sliding over to Center.

I would be happy with anything where we trade away some combination of Al, Marvin, Hendo, Roberts, Barnes, Hawes, and 2nd rounders for any of Eric Gordon, Joe Johnson, Wilson Chandler, Gallinari, OJ Mayo, Jared Dudley, Kevin Martin, Nicolas Batum, or anyone else in that vein. As long as we don't trade away actual assets, I'm good with anyone or anything that can shoot and expires next summer.

Matt Barnes to OKC for Jeremy Lamb and Perry Jones. OKC can the cut Barnes to get under the tax line and free up roster space.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

The only players I think we could possibly get without having to give up additional assets are guys like Kevin Martin with more than one year left. Or to swap expirings with teams that could use some additional maneuvering room like New Orleans and Brooklyn with Gordon and Johnson. I've soured on trading for Joe, but I'd be really happy with either Martin or Gordon.

If WCS is still at 9 and none of the top wings fall to us

9th (WCS) for 16th, James Young and Nets pick (or Dallas pick)

Hell yes. One of Oubre, Dekker, or Booker is probably dropping to 16, I like James Young, and that Nets pick could end up better than 9. That would be highway robbery if we can't get our hands on Mario.

I definitely want Al gone because I want to unleash a more uptempo style of play with Kemba, MKG, Zeller and Vonleh (maybe Biz) and we don't have an AD to balance Al. Gordon makes sense for us for obvious reasons. I have no idea how to deal with Hendo though.

Three way deal:

Al, PJ, #39 to New Orleans
Hendo, Marvin, Roberts to Brooklyn
Joe Johnson and Eric Gordon to Charlotte

Biz/Hawes
Zeller/Vonleh
MKG/Hezonja
Johnson/Gordon/Daniels
Kemba/backup PG

I would rather trade Daniels over PJ because at least PJ can back up SF.

Biz/Hawes
Zeller/Vonleh
MKG/PJ
Johnson/Gordon/Rookie
Kemba/backup PG for MLE(Mo)

I could see us doing something simple like Barnes for Morrow. http://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/6586845

Oldish shooting guy from CLT comes our way (over 40% from 3 yet again last year), old tough guy for playoff run goes there way. Both bench based assets. Seems reasonable, and OKC can cut Barnes if they want some relief.
