PJ had some fantastic defensive moments. He had some overall great defensive multi-game stretches.

Giving a year long single number obscures just how bad he was overall at many other times.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

I mentioned bringing Brunson here in the past, but we should send Washington and Oubre to the Mavericks for Brunson and a pick.

The Miles news makes it much more likely we are securing PJ long term right? I mean, do we invest $25+m per in Miles given his recent issues or $15m per for PJ? He’s not as dynamic at Miles but he’s clutch, he is versatile and he is one of our best defenders.

Yes, give PJ the bag of money and Miles the bag of poop.

I was really hoping to hear something this summer on PJ. I wanted an extension for him after the Miles stuff went down.

PJ is going to have a Miles like leap this season.

From a PR standpoint, having Miles back will be disastrous for the organization.

Setting an amount for his next contract is tough, he can really good, but he also disappears.

Going to be a tough negotiation, I wonder if another team will swoop in and make it expensive for us. I know Miami previously liked him

I'd be shocked if he gets more than $17m a year.
When I die, have Michael Jordan bury me so he can let me down one last time.

Looking like this is not the case. He doesn't try have the time. Couldn't be bothered tonight to play D. Wouldn't be upset if we moved him at the deadline. Had high hopes after we drafted him, but he looks like a nba average player that isn't worth anywhere close to 20 million a year.*

*Hornets will definitely give him 3/75 for no reason next offseason, I hate this franchise

Yeah I'm creeping into the trade-PJ-while-we-still-can camp. For someone who was on Twitter all offseason bragging about his defense, he got absolutely burned several times tonight. He's too inconsistent with his offense, his defense, his shooting, and his effort level. Rarely ever has games with a lot of rebounds. Hopefully we can pair a stronger player at the 4 position with Melo, because the starting 4 on any given team is heavily relied upon.

You’re going to want a good return for him though, because he ain’t bad either. Thats what makes it tricky

This organization has to make some hard decisions soon. I’m sure we’ll be better when Melo returns, but not THAT much better given the supporting cast. Trade chips need to be set and trade targets established so opportunities can be pounced on. That means accepting this season will be a rebuild and lottery bound.

Are MJ, Mitch and company ready to do that? Of course not. They are no more prepared for the next steps needed than they were for making the horrid trade of our 13th pick Duren.

Yes PJ is inconsistent…that is his Achilles heel. He has shown big in select games, vanished in others. Offense is improving and growing, no doubt. Defense can be good to matador. Some team will make a decent deal with him in the mix. Could Miles be part of that in a S&T? Doubtful, but his resolution is a big unknown. Others who should be on the block are Plum, Oubre and Rozier.

It all depends on what we get back, but PJ has the potential to reward on a modest contract or majorly disappoint on a big $ investment.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.
