He'd be right. Redick is garbage at everything that is not 3-point shooting.

that's not true at all. even a blind man can admit he's a good shooter inside the arc too, and at the FT line. but more importantly he's a passable ball handler, he's a decent defender at 1-2. He's even an acceptable passer at SG. Look at his stats from the 50 games he played with orlando in 2012/2013. 4.4 APG? only 2.1 TO? That's SG levels easy. He's also did that in like 32 MPG or so. He's not one dimensional, he's just average at things that aren't shooting.

I'm glad to see that Simmons thinks the same about Clippers picking Mully up.

"You're a f---ing criminal and you deserve to go where you're going and I'm gonna take you there and if I hear any more **** outta you, I'm gonna f---ing bust your head and I'm gonna put you back in that f---ing hole and I'm gonna stick your head in the f---ing toilet bowl and I'm gonna make it stay there."

To Doc Rivers, who will definitely be yelling mean things like this at Mullens by mid-November. I know they didn't pay much for him, but pound for pound, that was my least-favorite summer signing. The Clips desperately needed a backup big man who could rebound and protect the rim, and they desperately did NOT need another guy standing 25 feet from the hoop and jacking up 3s. So why waste a valuable free-agent slot on the one NBA big guy famous for jacking up bad 3s and doing nothing else?

The funny backstory here: Charlotte ended Boston's post-Rondo winning streak last February because Mullens exploded for the game of his life (25 points, 18 rebounds, four 3s). Now he's on Doc's team! There's no question those two events are related. I love when coaches also pick their own rosters.17 Please explain to me how the Clippers are going to win four straight playoff series with the collection of defenders they have.

17 On a personal note, I'm excited to watch Mullens all season — from afar, it always looked like he did more things to help a team lose than any other rotation guy in the NBA, and it always infuriated me whenever he did well against the Celtics. It was like having the Red Sox shut out by a pitcher with terrible stuff. Then again, when your big guy is jacking up a 3 every six minutes and making 31.7 percent of them, and doing nothing else, aren't you in major trouble? I might be irrationally biased against him. We will see. Wow, we just spent a lot of time on Byron Mullens.

Clips can't contend with their current big man rotation.

CP3 is going to turn Mullens into some kind of monster on offense if Mullens one day decides he wants to step inside 15 feet every now and then.

I disagree. I think Byron Mullens is going to be the same old Byron Mullens with the Clippers as he was with the Bobcats, if not worse, now that the pressure of winning is more important than his individual stat line at the end of the day. Mullens couldn't even put up consistent numbers on a Bobcats team that gave him the green light because they were starving for offensive production from anyone not named Kemba Walker. The fact that I watched Blake Griffin's offensive production decrease & DeAndre Jordan have minimal progression with CP3's arrival despite the major increase in the wins column, I seriously doubt that Mullens will become some kind of monster playing with him

I don't think that that's what his role is going to be at all. If anything, he could turn into a monster by being a stretch 4 who doesn't step inside the three point line, period. Wide open threes galore of CP's penetration.

Teams are trying to react to the "pack the paint" defenses that shut them down in last year's playoffs. I agree that the Clips went after Mully for his outside shooting.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Exactly. Mullens isn't crafty enough to hang around 15 feet in or to be used at the high post. You need a guy who can post up and pass the ball, if you want to play two traditional bigs together. There's certainly no way Doc leaves Mully out as the sole big guy.

But Mullens was starting to put up consistent numbers after he came back from his December ankle injury. He had a ten game stretch where he averaged about 18 and 8. Then he had a couple of bad shooting games, hurt his ankle again, and put in minimal time in the last two months. Mullens still has not reached his ceiling. He might never do so, because most of his problems in his development have been on the mental side. But he did appear to be learning things last year. He's still only 24 , and now he'll be playing on a team that simply by the presence of Chris Paul will be smarter than the Bobcats. If he can continue with progressing mentally, he can be a very valuable player.
