Well I think this will be my post #2000 on RealGM! I want it to be a good one.

I hope we manage a trade with Cleveland. then find a way to trade the lower assets back into the middle of the round. If at 4 we can still draft Robinson we are golden. Then in the middle round we take the best SF that has value there (probably Harkless). If at 4 Robinson is already gone, and Beal went 2, I'd take either Barnes or MKG. Then go with Moultrie in the middle. I think Moultrie will be a quality starter in the league. He's got game...a very good shooter, post up game, rebounds and has a high motor. He will need to work on his defense, but he will be a solid part of our team.

This way we start the new season with:

PG - Walker
SG - Hendo
SF - Harless
PF - Robinson
C - Biz

OR:

PG - Walker
SG - Hendo
SF - Barnes (or MKG)
PF - Moultrie
C - Biz

In theory, which combination do you think would be our best?
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

the 2nd one - providing it was Barnes filling the SF position.

Agreed. I like both Harkless and Robinson but that first lineup doesn't have the needed perimeter shooting.

What if we trade 2 for 4, 24. Pick up Robinson and Q. Miller? We may have to package to move up for Miller but he could potentially fall to us.

Kemba
Hendo
Miller
Robinson
Biyombo

I also like the idea of balancing a "safe" pick in Robinson with a "risk" like Miller.

I'd be pretty stoked with one of the following 2 combo's:

Robinson and Q.Miller
or
Barnes and Sullinger

Deng is too inconsistent, that's the last thing our team needs is a high end contract that doesn't always show up. We already have that in Thomas.

We either take Beal at #2, the best player available, or we try and fill a need with another player by trading down to 4, and 24. We trade down with Cleveland if Beal is not our guy.

At 4 we take whoever is left out of Robinson and MKG.

Then we hope to land either two guys who we like at 24 and 31 or we package them to move up in the draft maybe with Dallas, who is looking for roster fillers that are cheap but still have potential, at 17. Then we grab another borderline starter like Harkless.

The Bobcats are rumored to be close to swapping picks with the Cleveland Cavaliers, who own the No. 4 and 24 picks in the first round of the 2012 NBA draft. It is still uncertain who the Bobcats would take at the four spot but, it would have to be someone who they know is not going to be picked the three teams in front of them, the Washington Wizards, Cavaliers (if they do wind up trading with the Bobcats), and the Hornets. The Bobcats would reportedly swap their second pick with the Cavs 24th, and it is still unclear what else, if anything, would be included in the trade.

i can't imagine the move up from 31 to 24 is anywhere near in value to cleveland's jump from 2 to 4. if that is what is negotiated in a deal with cleveland, then i can't see how that would be a good deal for charlotte. would have to be other assets moving in the deal.

So 2 + 31 for 4 + 24?

Perhaps for that Cho can include Tyrus? 31 is a very valuable pick to a lot of teams. They can get first round talent in this draft without having to pay a fully guaranteed deal. I wouldn't want to just throw it away, and that's what that deal feels like. Now if you include 31 and in exchange can get rid of Thomas too, that's a deal. I just don't see Cho basically giving up an asset like 31 like that.

I think I'm to the point now where I am expecting a draft night trade of 2 for 4 and pieces. Question becomes, who do we like better? MKG or Barnes?

No, just #2 for #4 and #24.

We would still retain #31.

So we would pick #4, #24 and #31.

Super Duper Trade Time ... Because I'm bored right now.

CHA IN: #7, #14, #21, #30, #35, Stephen Curry
CHA OUT: #2, #31, DeSagana Diop

Instead of putting our eggs into one basket, we have the chance to get several players. Drummond, White, Harkless, Ross, and many others will be available to us. Curry is the hometown son. We give up expiring contracts and our two picks.

BOS IN: #2, #16, Kevin Martin, DeSagana Diop, Klay Thompson
BOS OUT: #21, #22, #51, Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo

Boston enters full-fledged rebuilding mode. Instead of having Rondo play through the rebuilding effort, they can acquire some expiring contracts, a young talent in Thompson, and move up to #2 and #16 from #21 and #22.

HOUSTON IN: Paul Pierce, #36
HOUSTON OUT: #14, #16, Kevin Martin

Houston solidifies themselves as a playoff team in 2012-2013 with Paul Pierce. The asking price is high but the time to win is now. Plus McHale will love the chance to coach a longtime Celtic. Could probably contribute choice of Patterson/Morris to Boston if Boston needs it.

GSW IN: #22, #31, #51, Rajon Rondo
GSW OUT: #7, #30, #35, #52, Stephen Curry, Dorell Wright, Klay Thompson

GSW does the same as Houston. Rondo - Lee - Bogut will be an entertaining trio if healthy. They give up a lot but Rondo will make an immediate impact for the new ownership.

SAC IN: Dorell Wright, #52
SAC OUT: #36

Sacramento acquires a decent wing on a decent contract and a draft pick to play with. Wright is likely better than any wing they could draft at #36 and he played for Keith Smart.

I literally think we are the only team not getting royally screwed in that trade.

Houston is not royally screwed and Boston does ok if they want to rebuild. The rest is pretty bad.

Houston is giving up both firsts and their leading scorer for an old, overpaid Paul Pierce. That is called getting royally screwed.

I'm not sure Boston would even consider that either. I think they'd rather move forward with 21, 22, and Rondo than 2, 16, and Klay Thompson. I'm also pretty sure PP retires a Celtic.

How are you so sure about that? The rumor posted above says 31 is included.

Houston, as I stated, is pushing for a playoff run.

What's going to benefit them more next season? Paul Pierce (who is still a good player) or two lotto picks. How is Marcus Morris helping them out right now? They don't need the draft picks.

Paul Pierce "retires" a Celtic if Ainge puts loyalty before the good of the team. It's a huge contract to deal with.

I feel the #31 would be unnecessary. On draft night, there will be plenty of teams trying to trade up to grab one of the "gems".

I think we're going to be surprised at some of the trades that happen.
