I think Borrego is our guy, I believe in him. But MJ and Mitch need to find/hire the best defensive coach available this offseason to help him. And for the love of basketball trade for a starting quality big. Do those things and we'll really have something here in Charlotte.

If I may. "Oveja" is the common term. Borrego was used, at least in Spain, to say that somebody was not the sharpest tool in the shed. Wouldn't use it for this thread :p (Love the current name, in any case)

Oh ok, I hadn't noticed it in the wild until seeing "panza de borrego" on the menu of a barbacoa place on Sunday. I associate cordero with lamb and didn't consider oveja when I saw the Kendall Roy post, although in hindsight being the anti-Kendall Roy isn't such a bad thing, but a lot to unpack. After my boner, it appears I am the Kendall Roy today. Great show.

in my imaginary narrative he did get stoned af and this 2 minute Over the Top retelling was the actual entirety of the legendary 45 minute defensive practice that turned our team around

Lol. He must be desperate if he's resorting to using the movie over the top to try to motivate them to play some D

That is a hilarious How Did This Get Made episode and in tribute I will call that clip "bonkers", but if those type of references sink basketball philosophy into the guys minds, hats off to the man.

It gets funnier with each viewing. The explanation of the movie' premise. The blank stares. LaMelo's sizeup. Kulboka's reaction. Great work!

Kai’s face with a “is this a part of the rookie hazing thing, or is coach serious here?” look on it.

When you lose to the rockets, magic, clippers without p. George and K. leanord, it is time to question your coaches ability to identify the weakness of the other team and exploit it.

Shooting 3s is great when they go in. If they don’t sometimes you give up a lot of run outs that can get the other team going.

A good coach is somebody who can make adjustments and not lose to all these trash teams when they have a lot more talent.

Beating the good teams and losing to the bad teams means we play to the level of the competition. Which means the players, and the coaches too, aren't mature enough. We don't know how to win, yet.

Right, which is a point many of us on here have touched on multiple times

While Borrego has been coaching since 2003, he's only been the lead man now for his 4th year, and he's only 44 years old. He's very young in his career, and developing just like the players, so we should keep that in mind.

Additionally, Hayward, Plumlee, and Ish are the only "vets" on the roster, and really none of them have much of a reputation as either a "star" or "accountability" guy. 11/17 guys on the roster are 24 or younger, and 14/17 are 27 or younger. They're super immature and we've all seen it up close as they play hard against good teams and hot dog against bad teams.

The lack of older, more established coach and/or older, hard nosed veteran leaders is going to allow that to manifest. It's indicative of the entire on-court product being young. Easiest way to make that change is to acquire some older, last contract guys who will bark at the young guys, opponents, and refs on a nightly basis
