Re: Around the NBA 11
It's the right thing to do and probably for the best in terms of rest and not having to play undermanned, but it sucks to not have any Hornets games to watch this week. I hope everyone comes out the other side of the break healthy and focused.

4 Spurs players being positive makes me think it's highly likely someone on this team got it to.

Exactly! It was an overpay by Boston
We made a fair offer and he didn’t take it, so be it
Would rather have Terry and Hayward anyway

Some posters (myself included) were extremely frustrated that we were comfortable with the possibility of Kemba walking for no assets at all. If we weren't going to offer him a max that we knew he'd take, we should have moved him before we lost control of him.

In agreement with you, I still believe it had a lot to do with the All-Star game being in Charlotte that year.

Re: Around the NBA 11
Kemba was working out in Boston exactly as they had hoped until he started having issues with his knee. There was definitely injury risk there with the signing, but he had barely missed any games the last few years before his free agency, so it wasn't like it was a given or anything that his body woul immediately betray him as it seems it might have.
Its still a little too early to say that hes washed or can't get healthy again, but its going to be pretty tragic actually if thats the case. He almost literally ground his knees to the bone trying to carry this team while they surrounded him with crap year after year and then immediately started having physical issues as soon as he got to a winning situation.

Re: Around the NBA 11
More impressive - Jamal Murray putting up 50 points on 21-25 FG, or Vuc putting up 30-16-10 with no TOs and 13-23 FG?
Or, ya know, Embiid dropping 50 with 17 boards, 5 assists, and 4 blocks with 17-26 FGs?
Or Giannis going 29-19-8 in a grind it out game against OKC where his team scored less than 100.
Or CP3's 19 assists in 30 minutes with only 2 TOs.
Some gawdy stat lines tonight.

I wonder if Chris Paul would be a good NBA coach? He gets results wherever he goes, but being a coach demands different skills. I'm having a difficult time thinking of the last successful NBA coach that was also a high level player. Doc Rivers and Nate McMillan come close, but I'm thinking perennial all-NBA level players, which they weren't.

Nope.
Didn’t want him on out team in his prime. Want him even less now he’s declined.

Why did they fully guarantee his deal if they are about to waive him?

CP3 is a brilliant player. He has been consistently brilliant his entire **** career. Sure he flops like a douche but who wouldnt given the rules in place- it's logical. The real question about Cp3 is how good his career would have been had he never been injured, because despite how great he has been he was a completely different player his rookie and sophomore seasons. Anyways yeah, I could see him working out as a coach, he has had an extremely good grasp on the sport since the time he was in College. He has had some great mentors over his career as well (at least as far as coaching goes). Should he go that route I would follow his career.
As for Superstar NBA players becoming good coaches the only dude I can think of is Lenny Wilkins and thats a statistical record thing rather than something I actually lived through. Hell someone has to break the cycle.

Steve Kerr was a pretty fair player and won five NBA rings with two different teams. That was before he became a coach. But it's true, he was never an All-Star.

Larry Bird was a great head coach though only for a short stint until promoting to front office

Steve Nash is just getting started, and yes he has a loaded roster, but if those guys can continue to share the ball, keep playing well together, and keep getting better on defense he deserves some credit.

Re: Around the NBA 11
Is it a bad sign that, with us only being through roughly 40% the regular season, I'm rooting against teams that are close to us in the playoff race and watching their games every single day...? With $0 on the outcomes? Lol.
I just want us to make the playoffs this year. Sure it'll hurt our draft stock, but if we want to eventually win we have to get our young players a taste of the postseason. Rome wasn't built in a day.
Maybe I have a problem. I'll just say that I'm a fanatic
