Re: 2020 Draft Discussion
Honestly I'm halfway expecting the Hornets to win in a year when the draft probably isn't a super strong one.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

I would hate to win it this year. If we do, I think we should trade the pick away for future picks and keep both our 2nd rounders this year

Re: 2020 Draft Discussion
Not thrilled with the class obviously but I would be darn happy to move up into the top 3. I think Edwards, Wiseman or Ball (would trade him though) all have value to this team. I think we may actually do this tonight.....!!!
Even if we sit at 8, I feel that Kupchak will actually draft a positive impact role player with that pick and maybe with the seconds too. I might actually take J Smith at 8 if no none better drops to us and let the guy develop while we tank another year.

Re: 2020 Draft Discussion
Let's see. It'll be the Bulls, Cavs or like the Spurs or someone from the bubble that'll win it. Cavs and Bulls get #1 picks every few years and the Spurs are in lottery for the first time in 100 years so they should win it.

Re: 2020 Draft Discussion
If we landed the #1 pick then:
I like the idea of Edwards for us but am worried about him. Not sure I could handle another high potential but feared low BBIQ dude on this team.
Don’t want anything to do with Ball, his busted trigger happy shot and the circus that comes with him.
The guy I like the most is Haliburton, but his lack of a first step might be prohibitive at the NBA level - plus I really want to see what we have in Tae.
That really leaves me with Wiseman, who at the very least passes the eye test with his size and agility. But he played so little and might think he’s a small forward instead of a center - and might still be on the board from picks #5-#10 anyways.
Such a bad draft class.

The GSW’s are a lock, aren’t they?
Then they’ll get everyone back healthy next season, win 80 games, win the rings, the rookie won’t play anyways and then will explode in his year #2 and lead up their next 5 years of success.

2020 is not a normal year, if there is any year we would win the lottery it's this one.

If there was any year where this would happen, it's this year. Our once in a generation lotto win comes the one year that there is no one worth a #1.

Re: 2020 Draft Discussion
You guys are sleeping on Wiseman and Ball. Both of them have the gifts that could make them top of the game. Ball is a little bit more questionable because of his inconsistent shot, but he has high level passing ability. Wiseman is as close to a sure thing as I've seen in years.

Re: 2020 Draft Discussion
Lonzo Ball was a #2 pick and Lamelo is rated much higher than him. I'm not seeing a weak class.

Re: 2020 Draft Discussion
I don't give too much credence to the "weak draft" stuff, in most cases it just means we don't know where the All-Star(s) will go. There was similar rhetoric about the 2013 draft: what with discussions of taking Anthony Bennett or Ben McLemore over an injured Nerlens Noel. And yet the reigning MVP and DPOY were from that class, just outside the lottery.
Common thread between 2013 and 2020? It's a hangover year, the year prior we had an unquestionable number one and now we don't see anyone that can compare to Zion. But a few years from now there will probably be a handful of All-Star level guys, we've just gotta be better at identifying them.

7 footer with 7 foot 6 wingspan. Already has great body control for a kid his age. Left handed will make him a tougher guard.
The reason he only played 3 games? Because he got paid like all sure things do, he just got caught.
His floor is literally Andre Drummond.

This draft is better than a lot of you think. There just isn't no crazy hype machine like Zion
Balllin wrote:Zion Williamson is 6-5, with a 6-10 wingspan. I see him as a slightly better Kenneth Faried.
