It's clear Kai does not have it, despite how many videos he posts of himself in the gym on Twitter and Instagram jumping really high.

It’s been two seasons and we all knew he was a project before he was even drafted. He has shown flashes when on the court with better players. I’m almost certain the org will plan on using this season as his final evaluation to figure out if he’s got a future role on the team or not. They will probably do the same for Bouk too, but I don’t believe in Bouk’s attitude and while he’s super athletic he doesn’t offer anything else special like shooting, size, defense or basketball IQ.

On Kai, throwing a first round pick in the trash after two seasons when everyone knew he would take two seasons at minimum to get real minutes would be something else.

He's a third year guy that got torched by summer league UDFA's. He's not worth wasting a roster spot on at this stage. He's not going to magically get better. He's going to be the next Marcus Haislip.

I think it's a bit of a mistake to judge any of our players too heavily based on this train wreck summer league.

most of the reason the team was a trainwreck is because we had 2 guys out there that have 2 years of NCAA experience and 2 years of professional experience that are somehow the least skilled players on the court on any given line up in summer league. Nick Smith who also wasn't even good himself showed more talent in one 3 minute span than I've seen in Bouknights entire career

What is Kai ceiling at this point? Backup center? Even if he hits that he won't have much trade value or really value on the court. Nnaji already looks like the better prospect. Trade him for a can of beans and sign Blake Griffin to be a vet center.

He's significantly (unfortunately) worse than Tyrus

I think Kai's ceiling is a backup 5 who can maybe give you spot mins at the 4, but my point is that some of these guys take 3-4 seasons to figure it out. We've seen it before on our own team in the past. Sure, if a trade package comes up that makes sense to include him in then you don't prioritize what could be over what is in this case. But you also don't just cut him to cut him especially when we lack bigs and have a whole army of combo guards. Is anyone out there with me on this or am I on an island? :)

Oh and what do you do if Nick or Mark gets hurt? We don't even have PJ under contract so I guess Thor at the 5 if Kai is gone? Nnaji will be in Spain this season.

Except after Tyrus had that weird stomach problem that caused him to lose all that weight. After he came back from that he might be the worst basketball player I've ever seen. That was really bizarre.

I don't even remember Tyrus Thomas playing basketball. I just remember we stupidly gave up a lottery pick to get him.

The Bahamas beat Argentina the other day and will probably make the Olympics for the first time ever. Not sure how or if Kai is helping. I'm sure he's playing behind Ayton.

I'd say 20/10/4/3 on 8-12 vs Venezuela and 16/6/2 on 7-13 vs Argentina is good... He's bricking threes though. 1-5 and 1-4 in those two games.Wish he'd just live in the paint... his perimeter game isn't close to serviceable.

EDIT: I actually have no idea when the game in question was. He's not even listed on the roster of the box score I pulled up from 3 days ago

Saw on twitter that allegedly everyone on the Hornets unfollowed Kai.

To quote our Latvian correspondent Lamar Matic
Kai Jones is like a track and field star unleashed on a basketball court,
As if he met the team and the coach an hour prior to the game

What kind of friends abandon you in difficult times? I hope everything turns out well for him if he is going through something.

I was just talking to someone about how he was supposed to be on that team, but nothing was seemingly announced. Did any news ever come out why he didn’t join the Bahamian team?

Has that been proven? I saw a post on Twitter where Miles was urging him to turn IG live off saying "love you bro, log off" or something. Sounds like his friends have his back to me.
