Yeah 1/100 is ridiculous. Can't take that seriously.

Re: Offseason Thread
We're the most hated team in the NBA currently.
So yeah hopefully Mitch and everyone else are on borrowed time. I hope this rumor about our interest in Jeff Peterson is real.

Totally agree I'm fed up with picking up scraps 2 or 3 months after everyone else has signed players. It's really frustrating for the fan base but not surprising with Mitch's reputation as a risk taker.

Next year's free agent class is lacking in star players, but it's loaded with quality role players. We need a GM that will actually aggressively pursue players.
We need more playmaking and next summer is loaded with guys that can help us there: Tyus Jones, Kyle Anderson, Markelle Fultz, Delon Wright, Kyle Lowry, Chris Paul, Mike Conley, Spencer Dinwiddie, DeAnthony Melton, TJ McConnell, Monte Morris, etc.
I wouldn't bet on Mitch landing a single one of these players, we can't go into the summer with him still running things.

Right or wrong, fair or unfair, this is the reputation we have in the league currently. Our front office could not possibly have a worse reputation. I just don't understand how they haven't done a complete clean out of Jordan's leftovers and start fresh. It better happen at the end of this year. I can't take another year of Mitch and Company.

WOW….just an unbelievably bad statement on this team from the most prominent sports media in this country. I think the new ownership is as blind to this reputation as the old ownership was. It reflects on their evaluation of current players but mostly on management.
Now, none of this means squat if the Hornets make a statement and the young players throughout the roster perform very well. That’s a tall order given the lack of quality depth currently assembled.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Re: Offseason Thread
I posted that in the new owners thread.
That ranking is nuts. Yes, we may very well be last, but to give us 1pt is nuts. We're the punching bag (no Miles puns intended) of the NBA world right now.

Nothing we didn't already know. Teams don't respect us, other executives don't respect us and fans definitely don't. We have cool looking jerseys though.

Our GM is like 70 years old and we haven't done any apparent FO clean out since the new majority owners came in. I would also rank us at the bottom in the league based on the fact that it is extremely likely that this FO doesn't have a long term future.

Re: Offseason Thread
I can't wait for MJ sycophants like Buzz Peterson to be shown the door. It's going to be a great day for Hornets fans.
I wish the new owners would go ahead and do it now. Why wait until the off-season? It's not like Mitch and his team are going to do a damn thing between now and the trade deadline. That's plenty of time for a new front office to get settled in.

my guess is if they asked 10 people to rate our management 0-10, 9 people gave us a 0, 1 person was super generous and gave us a 1.
investigate Adam Silver

Re: Offseason Thread
i can't even be annoyed at this point. if you don't want bad press, bad reputations or want people to take us seriously, then you have to do something about it. prove them wrong. otherwise, deal with it until you do.
either start winning or start a smart, well thought out rebuild
clean up the off-court non-sense
hire capable people top to bottom and invest in the team

I agree, however, had just about any other team done the same I bet they'd see a bump on "the promise of positive change" or some other BS.
It's a convenient excuse to dog on the Hornets

How about Darius Bazely, just released by the Nets? I remember him at Princeton, solid, still growing, nice lefty jumper, but pushed around because he was skinny. Has come upside.

I can't argue against that ranking we are managed poorly, but that should be pinned to the bulletin board in the locker as motivation for the season.

Re: Offseason Thread
Déjà vu all over again, including this rant.
Impressions of offseason, including preseason:
Off-season lip service.
Draft aside, zero positive roster movement.
Cultural disintegration. One guy flips out, another flips out - again.
Zero on-court leadership from our vets (see 'lip service' above) – let me know when Terry or Gordo (or Melo) get in the teams’ ear about lack of effort. Seems to be zero emotion when we’re actively crapping the bed. Lots of bench giggling.
Sleepwalking through games – 1 guy dribbling around while 4 guys stand still and watch, zero effort on D, no energy, no focus. We tend to win when our guys aren't being guarded and/or the other team's shots aren't falling. Outside of that, we lose.
We’ve won one preseason game in how long? And against OKC’s third stringers (who almost came back and won). Can no longer write it off as ‘just the preseason.’ It speaks to utter lack of preparation, motivation, and execution.
This is a problem that is wide and deep – with coaching (Cliff needed to go before he arrived), with the FO, and with personnel who seem more than OK with losing. New ownership needs to make changes or, they too, are part of the problem.
For starters, I think we need a coach that has a rep for being a bit fiery – a players’ coach that gets into folks’ grills – not a ‘good dude’ that knows his way around X's and O's, and everyone kinda likes but no one feels accountable to. Don’t know who this is, but someone who doesn’t take kindly to lighthearted losers. For example, Adrian Griffin has made intensity and physicality cornerstones of his coaching philosophy in MIL - two things we sorely lack.
We also need to dump Terry or banish him to the bench forever (which ain’t happening under Cliff – the man is loyal to vets). You can’t be 6’1” or 6’2” or whatever he is, shoot 33% from 3 (last year - shot 5-18 in preseason), play no D, pass the ball around a little bit, and contribute to winning. That’s Seth Curry without a shot and that’s gross. If we ever get Martin back, he should slide right into that starting role, but like the Hornets in general right now? Big question mark: https://www.si.com/nba/hornets/news/cody-martin-discusses-frustrating-journey-when-he-will-return#:~:text=After%20putting%20together%20a%20strong,it%20back%20to%20the%20court.

Re: Offseason Thread
I'm probably going to be slated and vilified for this post but hear me out first.
Would you sign free agent Kevin Porter jnr? basketball reasons being he's a very good player averaging 19pts per game and 5 assists & 5 rbs per game, he'd certainly add as a point of attack defender which we are sorely missing. He would be a nice compliment to Lamelo.
Off the court of cause he has obviously had problems, his girlfriend I believe has said the incident was overblown and the prosecutors released details that were not necessarily accurate and has since dropped one the charges. In her own words said it was a 10 second argument.
I'm just trying to play devil's advocate and yes I know we already have Miles's situation ongoing but someone else in the NBA will sign him, why shouldn't we be the bad boys of the NBA they think we're a joke anyway.

KPJ has had both on and off court altercations.
He got let go of the Cavs were calling out coaches in the locker room, making a scene.
Also, Houston fans were calling for him to be gone before any of this off court happened for bad attitude and playing me first ball.
He seems like the definition of empty stats.

I saw that and it’s the first thought that came to mind as well. Would be poetic to finally get him almost 20 years after the Ammo fiasco
