finally some reasoning for this trade that makes some sense.

So we basically traded Matt Carrol for Josh McRoberts.

Seems like a nice bit of business for Cho.

Yay we did something. Hes younger, taller, bigger then the guy we got rid of. Maybe he'll impress enough to hang around next year.

I read that Charlotte gave Orlando money (I would imagine covering the difference). So maybe Orlando was trying to do McRoberts a favor.

:D :-? :o Now hearing that we gave up some cash for McRob,makes me wonder if Cho is doing this to compare Mc Rob against Mully rest of this season to determine who wins the offer for the contract for starting at 4 for next season. The loser is signed as backup.

I would like us to try a 10 day contract on a Dleague gaurd like Shelvin Mack by bringing him up now as a backup 2 guard to JT. We are going to be short at 2 assuming we let Rwill/Hendo Walk, Draft Shabazz and evidually trade Gordon..

I think best case for McBob is he really impresses backing up the 4/5 and he gets a contract at roughly what he is on now, he's no hot commodity and even if he does produce people will discredit it because it was for us.

He is pretty much Diaw lite imo, but I refuse to say a guy who was never given a chance has reached his ceiling.

I remember that he started off the lockout season with a lot of energy and the Lakers fans even started calling him McRambis. He didn't look bad for those first few games. But then Pau got back from his injury and he became a bench warmer...

Somehow, from what I've seen he definitely seems better than Warrick.

Magic players started calling him JaBron McJames because of his passing out of the SF spot (which he had never played before this season). McRoberts drove me crazy with some of his 3's and those flashy passes that sometimes didn't work out. One team's color commentator earlier this year said that Josh McRoberts will give you 3 WTF plays a game, one of which will work out. I thought that was pretty accurate. The guy is fun to watch though, when things are going right, and deserves a chance before free agency.

We've got a starting C who can't shoot twos? Do we need that? This obviously was not a basketball trade for us. It was a money trade. We save ~$300k by paying McRoberts less for the remainder of the year than we would have paid Warrick. And the Magic get a chance to rent Warrick and decide if they have any interest in exercising the team option for next year. Something we obviously weren't going to do since we already have a skinny 4 that relies solely on athletic ability - TT.

So he's not the white version of Tyrus Thomas.

He's the white, athletic version of Boris Diaw?

Didn't MJ send cash in the deal making it Warrick and cash for McBob - which would offset that 300k?

I've not seen any reports that the Bobcats sent cash to the Magic. Have you seen any?

In a separate trade, Orlando also acquired forward Hakim Warrick and cash considerations from the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for forward Josh McRoberts.

McRoberts’ contract, which expires after this season, pays him nearly $3.2 million. Warrick makes $4 million this season, and the Bobcats are sending some cash to Orlando to make up the difference in salaries.

while the Magic sent Josh McRoberts to the Charlotte Bobcats for cash considerations. Orlando technically received Hakim Warrick from Charlotte, but it will waive Warrick in order to free a roster spot.

The deal was only for Orlando to keep the trade exception they had. They now have a TPE the same size as McBob's contract.

yeah my friends who follow the magic are pretty clear about that. but McRoberts is an entertaining player to have on the roster, so I'm pleased
